Thanks for your input. A fully integrated refrigerator allows the �doors of the refrigerator to be completely flush with the cabinets next to it. The hinges allow the door to fold into the cabinet, rather than outside it. �A �counter depth refrigerator will stick out a couple of inches, and even if panel � ready, will still show an inch or 2 of the sides of the refrigerator. I've even been told counter depth panel ready will show a bit of metal on the front door. It has to do with the door hinges. I didn't think there was a difference between built-in and fully integrated, but I could be wrong. My issue with SZ is the lack of split shelves, which we occasionally use to stand taller items like opened wine bottles or pots of soup. We are a family of four, with 2 boys 10,12 who are definitely hitting growth spurts! �The SZ FD also only comes in 36" vs JAN 42", so there is smaller capacity. I'm wondering if we shouldn't just go with panel ready counter depth so we have more brand options and see if we can customize the cabinets to hide the sides. Any thoughts , has anyone done? _______________________________

I, too, would do panels, so please take lots of outside pics, especially how it looks against the cabs on either side of it. My one concern about this refrigerator is the small freezer. 5 cu ft is about what you'd find on a CD 36". No matter where I've looked, they never have shown pics of the inside of the freezer. How much stuff can you get in there?

Overall, I'd say I'm pleased with the unit for the couple months we've owned it. Caveat, it was the only refrigerator I looked at simply because I essentially stole it from the Sears Outlet (returned custom order). Had I paid retail, it possible I might be more critical regarding it's performance. I'm not sure, but I wanted to throw that possible bias out there. Layout and construction seem solid. Door hinges look and feel stout. The adjustable glass shelving in the refrigeration seem very stable and are well finished. The drawers inside the refrigerator are a good size; I'd like it if top drawers had the LED lighting like the bottom as I don't get as much ambient light through the top of the drawer/bottom shelf as I'd like. Maybe it wouldn't bother me if the bottom drawers weren't illuminated so well in comparison, but they are so it does a little. It's our first bottom freezer, so I don't really know how to compare it. I think it fits more than our previous side by side. It's definitely easier to take stock of everything. There is the large drawer that is divided into three sections, an ice drawer for the ice maker, and another drawer next to the ice. The ice maker and other drawer both slowly retract if you let go of them, which is kind of slick but probably unnecessary. No crystals (other than the time my wife didn't close the drawer all the way overnight) or weird smells. I can't really comment on the sound levels since I have it installed into an open stud frame. It's not bad, the noise seems higher in frequency than I remember our last but lower in level. I don't know whether it will increase or decrease when we do the final installation. Either way, I don't see it as being an issue for us. I feel I can comment on the ice maker. You definitely notice when it is filling up and emptying cubes, but they're short, infrequent disturbances. Hi there helou! We have the 42" built in version of the KA side by side and have been using it since November. We were lucky to get the floor model for half price at a local sale so we bought it months before the remodel. We have not experienced any of the problems that soigne mentions. Ours has a "max cool" button that if you load it up with a bunch of warm items or leave it open for a while, you just touch the button and away it goes - no problem bringing it back to cool quickly. We love the operation of the drawers - much smoother than others we tried and it seems to keep our food very well. I was looking at the french door model, but the 42" can fit a full size cookie/catering tray in the frig side -no problem, that was my main goal and we saved $4,000 buying it on sale. Plus, after realizing I could fit such large size items in this frig, I preferred not bending over to get stuff out of the freezer all the time.
