We also got the Wolf 48" range top plus the Wolf induction hub. We got 4 burners on the range top since we figured we'd never need more than 6 burners (4 on the range + 2 induction). And since the induction is the first choice and the range top gets the overflow, the harder to clean range top stays clean. The only exception to that is when we're cooking something that needs a lot of ventilation (since the range top is under the hood and the induction is not).

As to grill vs griddle, in our last house we had the same Wolf 48" but with the grill. Since we NEVER used the grill, we chose to go with the double griddle this time. I think it's just a matter of cooking preference.

I have an old Jennair with the changable components. We bought the nonstick griddle insert and loved it. It stayed in most of the time since I rarely needed more than 2 burners. I hated the grill - too hard to clean. The only time we used the grill was when we were cooking out and ran out of gas in the middle of cooking...

Thanks I am wondering if we WANT both the grill & the griddle are we better off w 4+1+1 (burners, griddle,grill) or some other configuration, is there a slide in griddle option avail as numbers junkie describes for wolf or should we go 6 plus grill & something external ( frying pan, is there some type of frying pan griddle over the burners....etc?

Hope others chime in need to place the order soon for all appliances

The range top is the centerpiece of our kitchen. We have a country kitchen look with white shaker cabinets and everything fully integrated. The only stainless steel/black glass we couldn't cover up were the ovens and the 2 Wolf hubs (the induction and the steamer). As much as we love the induction unit, having an induction cooktop just wouldn't have the right look. Eye-candy is important :)

Whether to get the grill or griddle option on the range seems to be entirely based on personal taste and based on how one cooks -- I read all the posts on GW last year when I was trying to decide. In the end I went with all burners and bought at wonderful griddle by Anolon that fits very well on the Wolf sealed burner range. Anolon also makes a double griddle that fits, I believe, over four burners. I'm taking the 500 dollars I saved by not getting the grill to invest in a new gas grill for the backyard.

Either combination is very flexible. Grill's inside are more popular the farther north you live. Is this the reason you are thinking about a grill inside.

If you do shoose a grill inside, make sure your ventilation is adequate.

We live in NY & grill throughout the spring/ summer & early fall...grill indoors would be in theory for healthier day to day cooking ie fish, chicken etc.... We had planned a best hood w 1000 cfm 52" for a 48" range top...see link as we would love some insight on the hood as well

We got the 48" with a single griddle and 6 burners. We previously had a grill in an old Jenn Air, and it was RIDICULOUS to clean. Overall, we like the griddle though it isn't especially easy to clean either. It is nice for warming up tortillas.

What we have found is that given its size (single griddle), it doesn't offer any better convenience or space than our All Clad nonstick double burner griddle, and the All Clad is easier to clean. So in retrospect, I think it would have been better to get the double griddle for the advantage of extra space and being able to cook LOTS of pancakes at the same time. I can't think of one time we have used more than 4 burners, so it wouldn't have compromised our space. We use our All Clad griddle way more often than the Wolf griddle. The Wolf griddle does heat up more evenly though.

We live in Texas so we can grill outside most of the time. However, I want to purchase a cast iron grill for those times we're just cooking a couple of pork chops. Our other cast iron cookware sears meats really well on the Wolf gas stovetop.

We have a Best external blower (EB15 rated 1500cfm), and while a bit loud, it is incredible at removing odors and smoke. We combined it with the Best PIK45 and are very happy. The built-in hood parts are simple/easy to remove and toss into the dishwasher. Our builder recommended Best and we're very pleased with their products.

I have a 48" range and love the grill. Either I'm not a neatnik or don't mind manual labor, but I don't find cleaning a big deal. The grill doesn't look new, but that's what the cover is for. I don't take it apart and clean it after veggies or tofu but do after grilling animal proteins. Occasionally I'll spray the parts (not the cast iron) with oven cleaner and leave them in the oven overnight. No biggie. I'm a charcoal outside griller, so I'm used to a certain amount of procedure. The Wolf grill is simpler to me. I probably use it 2-3 times a week. My hood is a Modernaire and I think I have 1200 cfm. It gets all the smoke out immediately.
