Thank you for your reply, BluCasetta. You're right; there are very few reviews of the Bertazzoni range out there, especially from people that have had them for a while. Your taking the time to come back and share is much appreciated! Part of why I was considering the dual fuel is that I've read that the all gas only goes down to 275 degrees. There a couple of things that I cook that require a lower oven temperature than that. For example, the chocolate-espresso dacquoise from cook's illustrated requires a 250 degree oven. But I may go with the all gas rather than the dual fuel anyway; I'm just gathering information at this point. The reviews for the all gas have generally been positive. I think overall oven steadiness that equates to even cooking trumps any concerns I have about the lower temperature limit. Glad to hear your "Meats come out of the oven succulent, casseroles are evenly cooked, baking has been a pleasureâ¦". ItâÂÂs great that the simmer and high burner options and the range of heat in between are fine on your Berta, too. Some have expressed concerns about the fan blowing hot air into the room when the oven is on, but I think I could get over that since my kitchen tends to be a bit cold in winter anyway, and I use the oven much less in summer. Your GE 30 inch DF Monogram sounds like a great pick for you.

reluctantartist - Here's the issue, as I understand it. This is NOT a formal legal opinion, so don't rely on it, but... Calforna's standards for residential construction are contained in the California Residential Code, which is part of Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR). As of January 2011, for the first time, the CRC does follow the 2009 IRC. It doesn't just do it by reference, however, it adopts specific code sections that contain the language of the model code, sometimes in slightly modified form. More importantly, the California Residential Code ONLY adopts equivalents of the IRC codes up through the end of Part III (("Building Planning and Construction") of the 2009 IRC. The section of the IRC that addresses makeup air (section 1503.4), however, is in Part 5 of the 2009 IRC ("Mechanical"), within Chapter 15 ("Exhaust Systems"). If you look at the California Residential Code, however, it specifically says "Note: Part V is not adopted. See California Mechanical Code, Title 24, Part 4") This is actually part of the California Residential Code as posted on ICC's own site, as shown in the attached link. The 2010 California Mechanical Code, is based not on the equivalent sections of the IRC, but on the Uniform Mechanical Code. I does NOT contain any makeup air requirement(s) equivalent to section 1503.4 of the IRC. It does contain provisions for makeup air of gas heaters, commercial kitchens, etc, but the ONLY potentially directly relevant section of the CMC to residential ventilation, based on my cursory initial review, is Section 701.1.4, which states the general proposition that "Where exhaust fans, clothes dryers and kitchen ventilation systems interfere with the operation of appliances, makeup air shall be provided." No specific standards for CFM. The other section of the CMC for residential ranges is section 504 (Environmental Air Ducts) and its subsections, which doesn't address makeup air but does say generally that "Environmental air ducts not regulated by other provisions of this code shall comply with this section . . . Exhaust ducts shall terminate outside the building and shall be equipped with back-draft dampers...Environmental air duct exhaust shall terminate a minimum of three (3) feet (914 mm) from property line and three (3) feet (914 mm) from openings into the building." It also says, more specifically at subsection 504.2 ("Domestic Range Vents") that "Ducts used for domestic kitchen range ventilation shall be of metal and shall have smooth interior surfaces." I can't find the reference right now, but I remember there is also a provision stating that kitchen exhausts can't issue into "walkways." Again, this isn't a legal opinion, and I could be wrong. Also, in California as everywhere else local jurisdictions are free to adopt MORE stringent code requirements, so you still need to check with your local agency to make sure they haven't independently adopted a specific makeup air requirement. But in the absence of such a local requirement, I don't think there is any hard and fast CFM-related makeup air requirement in California, at least yet.

I am really sorry but honesty dictates..... The CWEH9 is desperately lacking in depth at 21" its not even close. The Venezia has mesh filters, not what you would normally put over a real pro range, stainless baffles will out perform mesh with ease , as for the Verona sorry to say that hood is the worst of the 3 from a functional perspective. Very small capture area and again mesh filters. From your list above I would look closer at Wolf, Viking, Dacor and Modern-Aire, some Broan hoods will also work for you. From A sizing perspective form good to excellent 30 x 24 36 x 24 30 x 27 36 x 27 Clearly I am commenting on function only and not looks. again sorry for my bluntness.

sjb3ip, 1) There are three basic styles pro canopy,chimney,and standard. But there are many design styles. 2) You do realize you are getting the most powerful 48" gas range on the market? The rule of thumb is 1cmf/10btu. But 1840 cfm does not exist anywhere near $1500 3) So 1500 cfm it is then. 4) When kitchen desingers are building a highend kitchen without the benefit of an unlimited budget and the KD has spent almost all the money on built-ins, pro ranges, and high end finishes she/he turns to Best for the least expensive acceptable quality range hoods. 4a Best K210A48SS with 1500 cfm blower is about $1750. This has 430SS and 22" deep(24" is the gold standard). It has "stain less" not "stain proof" steel. If you live anywhere near salt water you need to skip this option. After 7-10 years of hard use it may rust a bit and needs to cleaned with something like Bar Keepers Friend in that case. 4b Best UP27E48SB with 1500cfm blower is about $2250. This is a very deep 27" so it can be placed higher and still get good capture. This has the better 304 SS. Very unlikely to rust,but still not stain proof. 5) Have you discussed make-up-air codes in your local area with your GC? If not you should.Many cities in the northern half of the country have these. If it gets cold in your area and you have a relativly air-tight house you may need to make-up for the air you remove so as to not cause a dangerous backdraft with fireplace/furnace/heater. 6) If you are considering Vent-a-Hood have a salesperson show you how exactly you would clean it. Some say VAH needs to be cleaned very often and it is a PITA. Others think it is ok. I am in the former camp.
