Front door design help needed

Hi,

I'm in the process of getting a quote for a transom and side lites for the company whose link I include below. I know the width and height of our front door, but am not sure what size I should have them make the transom because I do not know how much woodwork (or azec or fypon, etc.) we will have between the door and the sidelights. This is rather naive, but I have no idea who helps figure this out. Does the architect do this? The plans do not have this detail as we hadn't decided on the front door details at that point. I don't want the transom to not look well above the door and sidelights because of improper estimation for the width including woodwork, etc. Last question, do you all think this type of transom (spiderweb) and side lite (cross arch) painted white will look good on a stately Georgian style home? I decided against leaded glass because the design would get lost compared to the painted wooden dividers in a transom. Is that a mistake?
