Need recs: cold water tap/filter system

we need to balance cost and function. i want a cold water tap filtered and we're going to 'tee' off that filter so that the icemaker in the fridge also has filtered water.)

we live in nyc - and as long as it's like a brita filter or better i'll be happy. (and happiest to get rid of that darned brita pitcher - oh how i hate that thing).

I've seen:

franke dw-100 which i can get for about $250 included the filter and the filters need to be changed every 6 months for about $90 cost.

consumer reports talks about the whirlpool gold filter system which is pretty reasonable. highlights are that it doesn't clog much and is reasonable to maintain for replacement filters.

Costco sells the watts premier filtering system (at a great price) but it gets just so-so ratings in cr. and they say it clogs a lot.

please tell me what you use (not whole house filter systems which we don't need) and if you think it's good (or not.)

thanks. bean
