First and formost, thank you all for you wonderful thoughtful wishes for me :) :)

I got out of the hospital Sunday, but I am just starting to feel better (at least while I am on medication LOL) I have to "wait" till the meds wear off a little, so that I am sure that what I write makes "sense". LOL

I haven't been able to catch up on all of the posts, I do tire from sitting up too long, but what I have seen has just been wonderful, the fantastic trees, tablesetting, and other Christmas designs has really lifted my spirits. Especially since I unfortunately did not get to decorate my tree, I had put it up before surgery, but never got to the ornies. But when I turn the lights off in the house, and turn on the christmas lights in the tree, and IF I am not wearing my glasses, then it looks "like" it is decorated LOLOLOL

But again, thank you all for your well wishes and support and your wonderful inspiring photos!

Oh YAY!!!! You're back and typing! So glad you're doing well, Judith-- I was thinking about you again this morning as I was driving into work.

You're going to have a flood of people overjoyed to see this thread, I can guarantee.

Hmmm, maybe you should try decorating a table while on the meds, might be a whole new experience. LOL

Holy Moly is right!!! Where have you been my friend! You mean to tell me you no longer have to threaten yours?lol You have been missed, at least by me anyway!!! I can't believe that you of all people have managed to keep a gardenia alive for more than one year..Yahooooo and congratulations. Now, can you tell how happy I am that you are back? Now that you are, I shall have to come around more often and check out your pictures of the gardenias that you didn't threaten...By the way, after throwing that other one in the woods, do you think the this one you have has been haunted by some demon plant! cozy: Oh no...I figured you'd have a response to this. ;-) LOL...just messin'. I'm also hoping for a growing season dried up a bit, not like last year (unless you meant that I need to try up a bit, which won't happen...hahaha)! That month long of rain over a good bit of the US severely impacted a lot of people's gardens. I'm going to try and keep the legginess under control, don't worry. Hehehe...I think i've also made my decision on a hot house that i'm gonna buy towards the end of next week to put them in once they start to take over the house in Marchish. =) Hosta: In your zone, i'd definitely not start your plants outdoors or even put them outdoors at all before that show. Might be advisable to harden them off for a week or so before the show by putting them outside only in good temps (minimum 55-60) in a mostly shady, but warm spot. Then, for the last day or two keep them outdoors in a bit sunnier of a spot. You don't want people taking them home from the show and putting them outside immediately to only have them die within a few days because they are not used to outdoor conditions! =) The cold frame will obviously help with this scenario. Keep a close eye on the environmentals in it though (temp, humidity, etc.). Idealy for the fat stems you are seeking, you'd probably want some type of indoor lighting system to grow them in. They can also get leggy in that situation though by reaching for the light, so take that into account when figuring out how long to keep the light on them. Filtering it somehow with a shade cloth of sorts wouldn't be a bad idea. Most gardening supply stores or hardware stores carry greenhouse poly covering that will filter varied amounts of light through it. Anyways, I could go on forever...lol, but that should give you a starting point. =) My seedlings usually start a bit leggy, with my system, before I transplant them to their 2nd home (semi-translucent plastic cups), then they just grow out more than up afterwards and make up for it. I never use any artificial light, but have heard many good things about lighting systems from others on here. They do cost a few $ though. One other point, if you start the seeds 5 to 6 weeks before the show, you will have some small seedlings, which you may already be aware of. I put my blog as the "This link might be useful" thing below so you can get an idea of what size they will be at that age, and it also has a great link to catman's page, Grow Your Tomatoes, which has a lot of useful info too. woodcutter: Yea, I was lucky enough to get them off a seed trade! Hi again Patti, what a dahhh i must be, i'll just blame it on this cold weather -lol! i too love quilting and knitting, am just finishing off a mary maxim sweater for dear son, boy why don't i learn to weave the tails in while i'm knitting i also love crocheting too, but i think you will find this funny, i cannot do any knitting in public, why you're probably thinking does she have a phobia, not that's not it, i am a "lefty", and learned to knit in europeon style, so this is needle tucked under the arm, well this does not work for me, sooo i have to put the needle between my legs-lol, and i would get the most terrible stares from people, when i had my baby stroke, i forced myself to knit with large needles just so that i would get feeling etc in my arm, so take your time things will get better! it's even colder out -35F!!!! debbie

Thanks Janice, It seems like this whole year has been kinda crazy. At least it's going fast!! Hopefully I'll manage to get back in some kind of routine soon...what ever that is. I have all the blocks re-made through June and in the mail. I guess I'll have extra blocks when I get my room finished and unpack everything. Judith, good to see you're able to do the 'important' stuff, like posting. LOL Try to take it easy though, and not over exert yourself. I know it's probably hard for you, but some things ya just gotta do! ;o)

No tree for me either this year~bummer. But next year we'll both make up for it! LOL

Judith, thanks for taking time to let us know you are home and recuperating. We have all been concerned about you and praying for a speedy recovery for you. I just found this wonderful Holiday Forum. I'm in Central Va and if you are close enough I will come and do your biding with the decorations. I am nowhere near as talented as all of these nice people, but I follow directions great!!!!

Hi Judith,
I am glad you made it through surgery ok and are at home recovering. You and your creativity are truly missed. I have been reading along on the boards but haven't posted much. I am hoping to post some pictures of my Christmas decorations this weekend and hope for you and everyone elses feedback and critic.

Yes, Judith, as someone once pointed out to me during a difficult time, it is only a short period of time in your life, and there will be other holidays. And you know we love tablesscapes all year long not just Christmas.
Simplicity is a true form of beauty, so just enjoy that lighted tree!

Yay!!! Most of you is back! I bet we don't even notice the "missing" parts. ; )

I hope your recovery is quick and we see you dishing on here with pics real soon. Until then, relax and don't worry about the lack of decorating. Just think - Valentine Day is only 2 months away! : )))

Wow, you are all so great, you all do hold a very special place in my heart! I still have a few "hurdles" to get thru, but hopefully it will all work out.

Hee hee, that would be so fun having you all over to decorate my tree! Now that would be a real party! But, meanwhile I am still enjoying all of your great conversations and divine creations!

Thanks again for all your wonderful thoughts for me! Which is truely the BEST Christmas present!

Judith, Just wanted you to know that your Candy tree is featured in the "Tree Trimming - Your Pix" post by Garden Web!!! All the trees are beautiful to be sure but after seeing it last year you inspired me to make one of my own, kitchen sized like yours, and I've been collecting candy ornaments ever since. I'll post what I've got done later. Have a speedy recovery and let this be your year to just enjoy the spirit of Xmas without all the hassle. May it be your best one yet!!
