I know this is a long time coming. But I remembered this question when I ran across the following information recently. If you have XP Home, Go to your control panel, Double Click the Scanners and Cameras folder to open Connect your camera and turn it on then Right-click on the Camera Icon Left Click on Properties Left Click on the "Events" Tab in the Camera Pop-Up Window There you can either set a program such as "Microsoft Scanners and Camera Wizard" or put a check in "Prompt for which program to run". Which will open that options menu you speak of. There are two other choices there that are pretty well self explanatory. Make sure you click on "Apply" and "OK" If you Use Kodak Easy Share programs below is some other information about seeing your camera in My Computer. For a Windows XP operating system, it is not possible to see the camera as a drive letter when EasyShare software is installed. You can mount the camera as a drive using the Windows imaging acquisition (WIA) driver. To change from the Kodak driver to the WIA driver, do the following: Connect and turn on the camera. In the Transfer window, click Cancel. On the desktop, right-click the My Computer icon, and then select Properties. Select the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. Click the + sign in front of Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then select the Kodak camera. Select the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver. Select Install from a list or specific location, and then click Next. Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install, and then click Next. Select Digital Still Camera, and then click Next. FYI, A 1394 Net Adaptor Connection is basically Win2k/XP's way of telling you that you have a Firewire interface installed in your system. IEEE 1394 is more commonly known as Firewire and is mostly used to connect to peripherals such as digital cameras, camcorders and some external hard drives. It can also be used to network two Firewire-equipped systems together, achieving 12.5 to 50MBps transfer speeds. Firewire networking use is limited because of its 15ft cable length limitation.

Definetly a signal strength problem. In my area the cable co. only gives out HD boxes with a technician visit as they must measure the signal strength at your house to ensure proper service. The meter they use cost's a couple thousand dollars and gives a meausuremnt of the bandwith you are able to receive. (I know this because the installer at my house accidently forgot and left the meter in my basement, he was a nervous wreck when he came back looking for it later that day). You signal problem could be a result of too many splits or poor wiring inside the house or just plain poor signal coming into your house. Things to look for are where and how many splitters are you using? If possible you want the HD box and cable modems to get the top priority. For example in my setup the incoming signal is split three ways one goes to HD box one to cable modem and one feeds a 6 way spiltter for the rest of the house. You need a higher quality RG6 cable if you house is wired with RG59 or low quality RG6 you may not be capable of passing enough bandwith for the HD box. And finally your HD box should have a setup screen that shows the incoming signal strength, talk to a technician and see if they can guide you through checking this out over the phone might be helpful.

Jn3344 - we are still under construction.. My builder decided that he would wait until he heard snow was in forecast (NJ) and then decided to rip out sidewalks.. We then uncovered a water leak and a sewer issue.. So now we are still waiting on water company to finish (going on 3 weeks) so that sidewalks can be poured and we can apply for temporary co.. It's been a mess and every time we get a glimmer of hope we get crushed by something.. It's just been an overall mess with this builder.. Guy had nice weather up until February and decides that's when he wants to do outside work.. It amazes me.. Basically the inside of house is complete.. Minor touch ups with paint and some misc items that need fixing.. But everything else inside is good to go.. Oh and we took a visit at site and uncovered this mess..
