Maybe a dumb question

I do not understand this.

Last week as some on here suggested i downloaded Mozill-Firefox browser on my computer. So now I have IE and Mozilla.

I went to a wedding web page of my daughters and on the IE browser it looks fine, the way she set it up.

On the Mozilla browser, when I look it up the font is different than originally set up when making the pages. How can this be.

Why would the browser that you use to look at a page change the font.

There are no dumb questions!

There are many reasons why this happens, it all has to do with how the browser 'sees' the code. You could also try using Opera or other browsers to see the difference.

No 2 browsers interpret the coding the same way. Regarding the font, perhaps the code writer selected a non standard font or a font only used by Microsoft for creative effect not realising it may not show correctly in other browsers. You might also see differences in box outlines or shadows where used.

that is an excellent question actually. This is why when people build a website they should always view it with all browser versions to make sure their site appears "right" with each browser. It is also why on some sites at the bottom it will say this site optimized for use with IE or with firefox etc that means it was built basically to appear the way they want it to when using that browser.
When using a MS web building tool often some of the items used are MS specific so IE will be able to view them as they should but another browser that is not an MS product would not have those proprietary items so would have to "get close" as with fonts.

So any one building a web site should view it with various browsers first to see how they like it.

I'm new at this and looking at planting my first garden with the lasagna method, assuming I am able to find newspaper and leaves for free from somewhere (I have access to plenty of horse manure for free). I learned alot reading this site last night and much mention of using used coffee grounds. One question, perhaps stupid though, is the caffeine gone from the used grounds? If I spread coffee grounds all over my garden of greens will I be eating caffeinated collards?

Thanks, so much, everyone. These are doubles. I forgot to mention that. I bought them for half price, they were a bit dry. I watered them right away and they perked up a lot. They still have open blooms but a lot of old ones. I'll pinch them off and keep them watered. I bought some that are a deep purple to go under my yellow roses and some red ones to go with my red, yellow and orange schemed bed. I'll take pictures soon. Thanks again to everyone.

A few questions - Is it grafted? If so, is it planted deep with the graft 2" inches below soil? Can you prune the dead stuff way back to open up the crown? If it's own root OR grafted and planted deep and you prune back the dead stuff, it should easily send up new shoots to fill in the shrub. It may not do much until next season, though, since it has to re-establish it's roots this year. If it's grafted and not planted deep, you may want to prune off the dead stuff and consider re-planting it deeper in the ground. That would make the new strong canes the new crown (in time, as the plant grows :-)).

I removed Wedelia from my flower bed also. A shy little yellow daisy plant it is not! LOL! But it seems that the same qualities that make a plant a good ground cover are the same that make it a poor choice for a flower bed. You just have to know the habits of the plant. Sometimes that comes from first hand experience in how it performs in our own gardens. By the way, my neighbor Georgeanne lets Asiatic Jasmine grow up some oak trees in her back yard and it bloomed in the spring with sweet smelling flowers just like star jasmine :-) We were both pleasantly surprised. It covers the spot nicely, but doesn't take over or grow very far up the trees, but it is in shade. Maybe that makes the difference. Plus our soil isn't that deep either. Whatever, all plants need the gardeners attention from time to time. Not many want to stay exactly where you plant them. Perhaps we should start a thread that names those that do. Hmmm ... one I can think of right now is Angelonia. It takes heat and drought and in my yard doesn't spread. I wish it did! Bat Face Cuphea might be another.

You might want to get the FireFox Add-on called IE View or get IE View Lite. Then even if you generally use FF, you can choose to view certain sites in Internet Explorer, if they don't look right in FF. I often use this add-on when I can't see a video.

Here is a link that might be useful: IE View
