I didn't know the RCS's could have convection. Maybe you have a different model?

In any case, it helps if the range is perfectly level, but the fan can be balanced if it's noisy. It might be the bearings in the fan motor, but that's more unlikely.

The oven temp is probably a thermostat. Not a big deal.

When you say one burner doesn't work at all, does it click? Can it be lit with a match? This and the stovetop problem is most likely a control module, but you could also have a cracked ignitor on the one burner.

Why be leary of asking mfr for a rec? Either they have one to rec or they do not. What about asking the place you bought it?

I have never had to deal with appliance repairs since I have only owned mass market appliances but if I did I would ask if their repairs are guaranteed regardless of who comes in the door. At this point you are dealing with the repair company, not the mfr or dealer.

And hopefully without adding insult to injury I am sorry but I have to ask: I am thinking most people who buy a Bluestar actually cook with it. Why DID you wait so long?

yes call into the service department at Bluestar - they are much much better now that Pete has left. Matt has done wonders with the new service department

webjockey - your range is out of warranty - you can hire any one you want to fix it - nothing to be embarrassed about - call a good repairman and get back to cooking.

Personal stuff got in the way that made fixing my stove such a low priority. I knew I messed up by not taking care of this sooner, so I'm hear to get help NOW.

I decided to do another thorough cleaning and realized that the metal base was removable. Found a bunch of gunk below that. Cleaning it seemed to help with the noise. I'll check again to see if it's affected the temp at all.

My floor is uneven (1910 farm house). I'll look into that as well. Thank you.

I'll also be sure to mention specifically the thermostat and call this new bluestar guy about the ignitor. After reading some of the other threads, I'm wondering if I accidentally cracked the porcelain thingy and didn't realize it.

As weissman noted, some threads bring out the trolls . For some reason, specific Bluestar / pro range ones bring out Bruce Allen and samr to repeat their oft chanted rants against pro style ranges. In poor samr's case, life must be hard at the Lowes where he works for hime to continue pushing one of the brands Lowes carries while denigrating those they do not

Obviously Samr doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. I'd like to see someone go to the BS dealer and lift it up like you can lift up a BBQ. The BS is one heavy, well-built monster.

I would call BS service and let us know how it gets resolved.
