Which way should tub face? I have to decide by tomorrow...
Comments (3)I agree. It's always nicer to face into a room than face a wall (while you are in the tub). And I'm not sure why you say it "seems more natural" to put the faucets on the side away from the shower. I think they will look fine on the shower side....See MoreHelp! How should shower door open/layout?
Comments (3)My bathroom is set up similar to yours. We made our shower even with the tub depth. Puling that back just a little may give you enough room. Also, I think as long as the doors don't have the potential to hit, it will be ok. Every time I open my shower door the main door is closed. Additionally, my shower door swings in both directions. I only open it a small amount to get in and out of the shower. It's never been fully opened. That may be another option for you. I also have the towel problem. I have a hook just outside the shower door and a standing towel holder by the shower door. I chose a 28" door opening and that left me a small panel of glass where I could place the standing rack. Lastly, I hung an over the door towel holder on the back of my door. Right now it's just a place to hang my cleaning cloths until they dry, but it would hold 4 more towels. Hope this helps....See MoreCabinet Doors:Open which way?
Comments (27)I'd do the one immed to the right of the sink as a single with the handle on the left and hinge on the right. That way when you're standing at the sink, it will open toward you. I'd keep glasses and mugs, every day drinkware there. Probably a bottle of vitamins or other such might live there, too. The other two should be a double, opening in the center. Then you have plenty of room for your dishes, or large mixing bowls, or baking dishes or whatever. I would absolutely not have three choppy cabinets there....See MoreWhich side should fridge door open?
Comments (10)Spacer: in this case, a piece of wood that matches the cabinets that will go between the last cabinet and the fridge. Usually you use spacers between cabinets when the length of the wall doesn't exactly match the summation of the widths of the cabinets. In your case, you have to make sure you have enough space to the right in order for the door to swing fully, else you might not be able to pull out any drawers. Or you may bash the door against the counter top. For the counter top, you usually round off the corner depending on how much overhang you have. Counter depth means different things to different manufacturers. For the expensive built-ins, it means exactly counter depth in that the fridge matches the depth of the counters and blends in completely. For the stand-alone units, it usually means that just the carcass is counter depth which can be 24"-27". The doors stick out farther. And how that door swings (function of the hinges) determines how much room you'll need to the side....See Morezen4d
