master bath layout dilemma

I have shown this on another thread as a a problem area in our new design. thought maybe it needed its own thread for suggestions

I would like the toilet in its own closet and more wall space for towels, maybe more space on vanity with double sinks

I like our separate WIC now but it is L shaped organizers with a flat wall for hooks, hampers etc so not sure the dead space in this one works but not sure I would like a walk thru closet if you moved it up and bath down. you would lose hanger hamper space and have sliding doors to deal with etc not to mention the loss of being able to close the door to hide disarray :-)

anyone have ideas to rearrange existing space or I guess I could bump out wall too.

DH thought of putting a separate toilet closet up above the main bath but I thought that odd to walk across BR to wash hands.. but he is trying to help. I could put the WIC where main bath (upper right side of pic) is but it would leave main to go behind BR2 and not available to public.. UGH

I don't have an answer to your dilemma, but am curious to know how large your shower is. It looks small. If it's 3x3', IMO a wider shower would be much better.

you know i am not sure as i cant understand the scale but agree it looks small.. i will suggest it larger too.

I don't have a photo, but it's the layout I've got in my current bath. I have 2 - 37" vanities and a 17" bank of drawers (in the center/on the diagonal). It's plenty of room & I prefer it over the long stretch I had with 2 vanities in my last house. I plan on redoing the bathroom and will keep this layout since it works so well for us.

Beautiful vanity choice! I'll watch this question with interest. I am planning renovation of my master bath, too, which measures 13'2" x 7'. I'm also having a hard time figuring a layout I like. Of course, I want it all in there...including a linen closet. Keep us posted.

Our budget right now is $30k. I am not quite sure how much that’ll get me. I have never undertaken anything like this. This will absolutely be something we take on in stages. This space is what we’d like to tackle first and is the largest. In our kitchen at some point we will replace countertops and in our other bathroom we will swap out the toilet, tub and vanity. Luckily the rest of the house is functional for us. I lack the vision and knowledge that a lot of people on here have of being able to see a functional layout in disaster zones lol. My intuition tells me all these spaces can somehow be rearranged to give us what we need. I’m completely wrong, please help. Im also completely fine and understand if it’s impossible, financially or practically to have it all. I do have a consultation with a designer scheduled for this week (so excited), and I’m praying that she’ll have time to take us on as clients but I got excited and wanted to ask the Houzz community first. Window dilemma with master bath remodel

Oftentimes people feel like they are stuck with the window when they want to get rid of a garden tub and put in a shower in its place. But usually you're not stuck, unless there are historical codes or something like that to prevent you from changing the outside look of the house. If not for code reasons, people feel like it would be too expensive to change the window to a high transom, but if you think about the total cost of your bathroom remodel, replacing the window and fixing the siding/brick on the outside is just a small percentage of the over costs of a remodel. Bathroom remodels are really expensive. If adding 3-5% to your overall remodeling cost means you can improve the function, layout, look, and not worry about a problematic window in a shower, then to my mind it's worthwhile.

Our layout is similar to yours. Only we have a smaller soaking tub and the WC is next to it, so that gives us plenty of wall space for towel bars.
The back of the toilet is against the wall where the tub is. Our shower is next to the vanity, it has a knee wall. I think you just need another foot or so to get all that in. Sorry, I cannot post the layout of our bathroom, as I'm not sure how to do it. Good luck!

I was told an easy way.. copy it into paint and then save as jpeg and upload to a site such as webshots :-)

sounds neat but i am so visual i need to see all plans on paper or pictures..LOL

Thanks autumn I love your idea of layout, I could do it but would lose lots of my WIC BUT perhaps if i jut the wall out a few feet I could change the layout completely

Anyone help a newbie who has never built before but loves her bathroom

ok i may have butchered it but sort of tried to get the toilet in a closed area for "ventilation" :-)

but no idea if 2 opposing pocket doors will work and others will eat up too much room, perhaps just out and mor space like chiefs Bath are needed

It's a headache isn't it? Did you mean extending the front closet wall? If you could do that, you could switch the shower and toilet and then the toilet could be on an outside wall with a window which you could open if you wanted to.
I have seen some Gardner and Betz plans that jut the tub and shower out on the outside wall only. That would give you more room. Or jut out the toilet and tub. I tried it every possible way and got it in the end, you will too.
