We had a similar thought when designing our new shower but then we found out adding "extras" like body sprays, additional showerheads, etc., could require an additional water heater and that just wasn't something we wanted to deal with.

Can't speak from experience re the body sprayers, but I would say forgo them. Your shower is smaller than the one we just finished in our basement 36" X 48", and we have one fixed and one hand held. Hubby redid the piping from the outside, and changed it from 1/2" to 3/4"--It is great-- really strong water pressure, it is our guest bath, and guests rave about it. We now use it instead of our tiny Master shower.

You don't specify, but will the walls be glass or solid? Cuz if they're glass, where would you place the sprayers?

When we redo our Master, we will have the same question as you, I had been assuming I would do the body sprayers, but after enjoying this one so much without, am now thinking we may not bother.

The house already has a tankless heater, so not concerned there. But not sure about the size of the feed lines.

The walls will be glass so I would place the sprayers on the wall below the main shower head the nozzles spraying back on you, then I would pivot them in. The hand shower would be on the tile interior wall perpendicular to the main head.

Maybe overkill, but not sure.

Interesting, one of our bathroom plans is similar to yours. We are going to remodel two bathrooms. Initially, we thought about putting three body sprays in each, but now will put in only two sprays in the other bathroom, which has a larger shower. Like you, "we are only going though this once." We are also replacing all of our plumbing and so we had our water main increased. Even though we don't have our bathrooms remodeled yet, it is amazing what a difference increased water pressure makes throughout the house. If we had gone with our original plan of more body sprays, we would have had to upgrade our water service even more -- which we decided not to do. We are also getting a second tankless, but it seems that was necessary even if we had no body sprays. A consequence of the added tankless is that we need a larger gas meter. It goes on...but only once?

When redoing our masterbath three years ago. I opted for the overhead shower the handheld and three body spray jets. In reality I hardly ever use the body spray jets. But I love love love the handheld and the corner bench we installed!

The shower at the spa near us has body sprayers, so I used them there several times to see how I liked it. Ultimately, decided that I personally didn't like the body sprays enough to install them in our renovation.

If it is something you *love* using, I would say, go for it!
If you are more like me, and don't really get a kick out of them, save your time and $$ and treat yourself to a monthly massage and use the ones at the spa!

We instialled body sprays in our new home 7 years ago. We have probably used them 7 times at most. We are building a new house now, and I will not be adding body sprays, instead I will improve the raine head and the handheld.

Have them, dont like them.

My favorite is the rainhead followed by face shower head, then the hand held.

Most tankless waterheaters will not be able to cope with a 10 GPM demand. You'd have to install a second unit. Might need to upsize the gas main for that. And upsize the drain too.

Thanks for the input. Maybe I'll bypass them It's basically $500-$600 the parts, plus the extra plumbing cost along with working around the sprayers and the nob...

But JW's picture and statement are pretty compelling. Definitely don't need to go in and spend extra money on an additional tankless...

I am definitely interested in doing a curbless shower, just need to get the existing one torn out and see what it looks like.

Delta makes a jetted shower unit (Innovations Monitor 18 Series T18230-XO) with two body spray jets that do not require any extra plumbing or drain set-ups. You can get it and the valve with an extra outlet (XO) for a hand-held shower application.

We're putting this in our new shower as, it won't be in for another few weeks I can't comment on it's performance. It's suggested retail cost is $550 and valve is $225, however, you can find a much better price on-line.

My BFF installed a Grohe AquaTower. It was $2k !!! THey are not happy because it spreads the water pressure amongst all the sprays and shower head. They should have done something with the water pressure that feeds that unit but did not so now they cannot use all them on at the same time and get the desired effect. To do that right, you need to consult a plumber so you can get maximum effect. It won't be a small investment.

How did your installation turn out? Here are few more pictures of the body jets from Dornbracht. They are called "Side Rain" and are square in design.

These Dornbracht fixtures have two settings that can adjust the pressure of the fixture. I love the body jets and would use them everyday to keep warm while shampooing my hair.

It depends on whether you like water projected horizontally at your body.

We installed a Hansgrohe shower panel with 3 integrated sprayers. It was simple to install and works as advertised. But some people just don't like the feel of the spray. Also, if you do install them, make sure they align appropriately to your body. (This may be a problem if the users have significantly different heights.)
