marble tile to match Calacatta Regina slab

I have a beautiful Calacatta Regina slab (http://walkerzangerblog.com/tag/calacata/) for our master bath tub and counters and now realize that no one makes marble tile in this lovely cream marble with smoky green shadows. I have been struggling to find Calacatta Caldia tile, another difficult one to find, and am now considering putting hand-made subway tile in the shower instead, or another easily obtainable tile ( of course, the job has come to a halt waiting for my tile decision!) I would love thoughts about 1) mixing in a porcelain tile in the master bath and 2) the idea of going with Thassos on the floor in basket weave...a very white marble that I can only imagine would be tough to keep clean. I am a big marble fan, have it in my current master and am putting in on the floors and counter of two other baths, so it is not the material I am worried about, just the color. This forum has been so great in helping me thru lots of house decisions....hope someone has a brainstorm I haven't thought of!

I have calacatta caldia slab and tile in my kitchen. I got it at Arena Stone in northern NJ. They specialize in white marbles.

I have seen some variation in calacatta tile depending on the stores I have gone to, and they all call it calacatta or calacatta gold. You may just want to look around and see if you find something you like that pairs well with your slab. The tile will never be a 100% match to your slab anyway.

We are in the process of remodeling our master bath and will be installing calacatta on the counter, floors and as an accent tile in our shower niche...rest of the shower will be white subway.

We are also planning on putting calacatta in our hall guest/family bath with the calacatta on the tub/shower surround and on the walls chair rail height. Floors are going to be a wood porcelain tile and the countertop will be a quartz.

I think it looks good to break up the marble with another stone/texture....as long as it doesn't get too busy.

Personally I don't like the look of mixing honed and polished. Also, when marble is honed, the color tends to look different from the polished marble. At least that was the case with our botticino. At first I wanted honed but didn't like the color so we went with polished. It seems that you have seen the slab--is the color the same as the marble in the rest of your baths? I would make them fix it because you will probably regret it later. There is a reason that you made the choice in the first place. Don't let the money be the factor--these baths need to last a long time. As far as looks go, I like polished on the vanity top and deck.

What people often do is to cut or have cut a rectangular piece, say 2" x 12", to attach to the bottom of the bullnose. So it becomes a rounded edge with an attached overhang. You don't even necessarily have to do that, if you are going for angles--you could just polish the outer edge of the countertop piece and attach the 2" overhang piece on that. It would be an angle, then, as opposed to a curve.

What a lovely space to work with. I love your slab of calcutta. Amazing with movement. You must be excited to get started. Here are some ideas to help. And I tossed in a few non subway. Could not help myself. I have a curiosity about some of the clever tile shapes out there. I used to think only subway was the way to go with marble but notice a few other ideas below and see for yourself the options are endless. ~boxerpups My first instinct when looking at your slabs is to get more and do a backsplash of solid marble like this.... Of course that could be outrageously expensive so perhaps something a little less dramatic but as gorgeous like this... Maybe green is not your thing, how about this.... Back to soft green subways....

Has anyone from this post installed Neolith slab countertops in the north NJ area? I recently reached out to the local Neolith distributor in my area, HG Stones, to get a quote on replacing our current granite countertops (35 sq. ft) and backsplash (32 sq. ft). HG Stones referred to me to one of their local partners to coordinate an estimate/fabrication/install. For 12mm polished Estatuario countertop with mitered edge and 6mm backsplash I was quoted just over $11k for the job; does this seem about right to you (~$167 / sq ft, installed)? Also, can I be confident that the partner they referred me to is skilled in Neolith fabrication/installation or should I go back and try to work with HG Stones, the local Neolith distributor in my area (per Neotlith's website), directly? My last question: Neolith appears to have a 20mm thickness slab product out now. Has anyone see or had this thickness installed? How's it hold up/compare to the 12mm version?

We got marble (White Thassos) for our bathrooms at K&K Marble on Long Island, NY. I think they have a good selection of different types of marble, so it might be worth calling or visiting them.

FWIW, if you do end up going with White Thassos, we have it in all three bathrooms' niches, and as trim tile in one bathroom, and it's just as white today as it was 3 years ago, when it was installed. I sealed it using STT's SB Sealer.

Thanks, all. I am on the hunt today for some tile, perhaps Caldia as it seems close! Wondering if you all have heard of Glassos...a man-made Thassos look-alike that is 1/2 the price and beautiful. I am thinking of that for the shower as it has the depth that porcelain tile does not.
Can't wait to be done!
