I didn't check out the chain stores this year except when someone asked if Midas touch was available. I saw only Granadas at Lowe's some were huge and that rose own root from Chamblee's didnÂt do anything for me although every other rose from this company did well so far; but the weather of last year was awful in every sense so that might contribute to the subzero performance of that rose. Still, I just could not bring myself to buy any of those huge Granadas because I remembered all those roses I had to discard due to RMV. I think I have one bagged rose purchased 10 years ago that has become a stellar performer; two that are OK and I kept two cl. Peace with RMV because DH loves that rose. The others were discarded. I agree with Ann, and with my various ailments plus DH's growing resentments of digging up, discarding and replacing roses, I rather buy a multiflora grafted rose or an own root if the source is good enough than experiment with bagged roses. I do get excited if I see some interesting varieties but then memories of roses from 11, 10 or 9 years ago come alive and I walk away. Trospero is right - the rose itself is usually the least amount one spends on the roses: fertilizers, fungicides, labor (yes, your own) etc. add up. Considering how greedy Paul Neyron is, I somehow doubt that it would do well in a pot. It needs very fertile soil, a lot of water and fertilizer and all that given, it does rebloom even in summer heat for me. Paul Neyron is among those rare HPs that like heat. I love that rose and I hope you got a very good specimen.

T.fortunei cv Tesan do really exist in China and it is a new variety that has been introduced recently into the market by us.Based on our abudant years of experience with T.fortunei and some other palms in China, there are several kinds of trachycarpus varieties native to China such as the already known ones T.fortunei, T.princeps, T.nanus, but only those with knowledge about palms can tell it . Tesan is one of them with short petiol and better cold hardiness . Normally, when we talk about T.fortunei in China, we refer to the most common one that are commonly seen with thin trunk and long petiols. While Tesan has short petiol and good trunk, we can tell the difference from their thicker and sufficient hair and trunk. It has nothing to do with the growing condition because these two varieties are different from each other and apparent to tell . Though fortunei can be found in the good fertile condition or in the same place with Tesan in China, still they are not as strong as the latter. In addition, I would like to share another T.fortunei variety from China whose leave segment form a full 100% round shape as compared to the 1/2 or 3/4 round,it is more elegant than its counterparts. Thanks Jackie. That is one magnificient Anna Olivier. I am still confused as to the differences between Anna Olivier, Bermuda's Anna Olivier, and Schmidt's Buff Giant. HMF suggests they are the same and yet others disagree. I've read a lot of the comments about the Tea Ladies' book and it seemed to me that there was less history and more about descriptions of roses in commerce but not with the information on lineages that I seek. Still, I'd rather have it than not have it. The teas I am most drawn to have probably have some early hybrid tea and might not be so ideally suited to Florida. I have that instinctive knack for wanting what I can't have. BR Cant is great, and she is probably the most successful tea of all in Florida but I think it would be exceedingly rare for her to pass the age of 30. Also I have seen some enormous specimens (on Pam Greenwald's property--Angel Gardens) of Rozette Delizy and a few others, white-to-beige blooms, a full cup shape, and not much scent). They might have been pushing 20. The rest of those that find themselves on "recommended for Florida" can do well but most likely not as well as BR Cant. Aside from BR Cant, Dr. Manners recommends only grafted Teas. Worse, still, the teas that he does recommend comprise a very short list: Bon Silene Duchesse de Brabant Etoile de Lyon Maman Cochet Marie Van Houtte Mme. Lombard Mons. Tillier Mrs. B. R. Cant Papa Gontier (I have all but Bon Silene, Etoile de Lyon, and Marie Van Houtte). On the whole I think that teas prefer Mediterranean climates so it doesn't surprise me that they do so well in parts of California. Much better than in Florida, it seems! Chinas are happier here--the real Chinas, not the ones that are misclassified Bourbons, or the ones with HP or early HT injections or whatever. I just wish that I could get as worked up over them. They tend to have a more loose, informal flower as well as bush and they just don't thrill me. I've never squealed with delight or felt my heart skip a beat with a China.
