Does a triflow kitchen faucet approved for RO water exist?

I have an eclectic kitchen with some modern and many traditional elements. I also have a retrofitted Blanco zero radius 30" sink with one hole, and would rather not replace the sink AND faucet. Does anyone know of one? Apparently, RO water is very aggressive.

Jenny: so sorry I didn't see that you asked me a follow up question in your previous thread.

Yes the franke, and probably most others, use their own filtration system for their tri flows. It is easy to connect to an ro system tho. Is it "approved"? I doubt it because they want to sell you on their very expensive ssystems.

As far as the ro being aggressive, although this is true I don't think you will have any problems. The newer franke tri flows have a flexible braided connection rather than the older ones which employed semi rigid copper. The metal tubing is what was the concern about being "eaten away" by the ro. Even in those cases with metal tubing I had some clients with this setup that I had not heard of any issues over many years.

If you are not comfy using one of these faucets then you could always get a dedicated ro faucet. I can tell you tho thru real life experiences, not text book theories, that you likely will not have issues with a tri flow. Will it last forever? Nope. Nothing does. But forever is a very long time.

Please don't stress too much over this. You won't really go wrong with whatever you choose.

Some sources of water when stripped of most chemicals by RO will end up acidic and be "aggressive" to some metals. But the water may also end up still slightly alkaline, and not be aggressive. That is true of my RO water, derived from municipal water. Had it not been alkaline, I would have added an available in-line filter that buffers it to be slightly alkaline.

On the subject of RO, today I noticed that Newport Brass RO faucets are flow rate limited to meet some imposed requirement. I can only marvel at the ignorance of whoever promulgated such a requirement. If one is filling a glass or a pot, one is going to fill it the same amount whether it takes 30 seconds or 130 seconds. Flow rate limitation saves no RO water, it only wastes peoples' time.

Hi jenny: how do I like the faucet? Well I really like this one a lot for the purpose I am using it for. It is installed on my island for the smallish prep sink. It is a bit dainty looking for our main sink which is a very large (36") single bowl stainless apron sink. For the larger sink we have the bridge faucet by franke which belongs to the same suite as the 3 paddle I showed. The larger one I have had a couple of quality issues I don't think I should have encountered with a $1200 (at the time) faucet. The smaller one no issues. As for ease of plumbing: that sort of depends on a few factors. The pipe itself is an absolute breeze to run as it is very flexible small diameter pipe. I am in the fortunate situation where I have completly open access into all ceilings and walls as my entire house had been gutted and is being rebuilt so I am able to plan for these things ahead and it makes it simple. If you need to start taking apart walls/ceilings/floors etc in order to run the pipe that is when things get at least very messy and maybe even challenging to some. An RO system has a pressurized storage tank which may give you enough pressure at your faucet, but if not then you will need a pump to help deliver the water. I wouldn't say the pump is difficult if you take your time and follow instructions etc. I hope it all works out well for you. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. No dumb questions here.

Chrome is chrome. It's the same across all manufacturers. The only difference is if it's a brushed look versus a shiny look. Some manufacturers that offer both will distinguish the shiny by calling it Polished Chrome, but it's not any different than the standard shiny chrome on the cheapest $30 faucet to the most expensive $2K faucet as long as the manufacturer uses the PVD process to apply it to the brass underneath.

I am adding some photos in case they are helpful to anyone. I have a "cluttered sink." ;) I am ok with it because it still looks balanced and is a large sink. It has a bridge faucet (Grohe Bridgeford) w/ side spray and a R/O cold water faucet (Newport Brass.... they match really well for different brands!) The R/O faucet was added after we moved in as we realized we needed to further purify our rural well water. We used the hole/space the air gap had used. Of course, the water softener ppl will say this is perfectly fine.... but our plumber agreed later on that it should be fine. (In some parts of the country, air gaps aren't required by code. In some they are. If we sell our house, we'll have to put the air gap back to pass inspection.) What I like about our set up is that the faucets have plenty of room to swing completely. My hubby and I can easily stand side-by-side at the sink, both using a faucet. This happens often. RE: the speed of the faucet.... the R/O faucet is quite slow. It isn't as bad as the filters you can add on to your existing faucet, but it's close. Since I'm normally only filling a glass of water, I don't mind. I got used to the speed and waiting some extra seconds. It certainly takes less time than going to the store and hauling home bottled water. :)
