Input on House Plan!
Comments (4)Also, I'd change the location of that laundry room to the far corner to give more ease in access. The bedrooms are okay, although the smaller one seems to be a bit cramped but if it's for a smaller child it could work. I'm just not sure about the kitchen design though. It's a big chunk of investment and the way it is now, I think you're going to regret the layout. Seriously, rethink that one....See MoreFloor Plan Idea's on my New Plans
Comments (8)I agree with Green that the garage will dominate the facade. Re: the kitchen size issue: The corner pantry and angled island make it feel cramped. You could try this: rotate the front hall closet and move the pantry to the space that was kind of unused to the right of the guest bath; change the door to swing in. Straigten the island. Move the refrigerator to the end of the range run; this means that diners can grab a beverage refill without walking past the work zone. If you are rather formal diners and don't like the looks of a fridge so close, consider getting a panelled fridge. (See mockup.) Also, post your plans on the kitchens forum - there are loads of talented layout folks there....See MoreReturning Newbie...Needs plan Critique
Comments (19)Hi, again. Original poster here. This post was actually from several weeks ago,and gained well over 70 reponses to my surprise! Unfortunately, the nature of the resonses turned negative and rude, and I decided then that I would no longer be part of this "helpful forum." However, the recent responses have been kind and informative so I just wanted to offer an update. Yes, we have 20 acres. I agree that the house was designed for a narrow suburban lot, so we are thinking of angling the garage so from a 90 degree angel to a 45 degree angle and adding a breeze way between the garage and house. The kitchen does appear a little small and cramped to me, so I'm hoping to take some of the square footage fromt the Living Room and add to the kitchen/dining. The downstairs study will be a 4th bedroom. One thing I'm trying to work around is that two side of the upstairs floor are open to the first floor. I think this would be horrible for the noise level. Any suggestions? I know the exterior is displeasing to some, but I still really like it. I'm kind of an ecclectic and I don't like to be boxed into one category (traditional, southern, colonial, etc.) To me this is a perfect blend of the beach houses we fell in love with in Watercolor, Florida and the craftsman style homes that I'm typically drawn to. Thank you all for your comments! Keep 'em coming......just please remain respectful....See MoreAny input on this home plan?
Comments (11)Overall I like it. Nice simple exterior. The things I'd change: - Too many doors in the same place at the master bath entrance. - Consider the pathway you'd have to take between the laundry room and the master closet ... through three doors just in the master suite. This would be easy to simply by moving the closet door to the bedroom. - Your only back door access is through the dining room ... and when you place the table there, it'll be in the way ... you'll need to keep this in mind when choosing a table size. - You don't have a lot of space at the garage entrance ... I'd consider recessing the closet into the laundry closet to allow a larger space. The laundry would still be big enough. - Where are you going to place the beds in the upstairs bedrooms? The left-side bedroom is especially oddly shaped. - I agree with the above poster that the upstairs hallway will be dark....See MoreAngelaZ
