What room is behind the wall where you need to put the electrical outlet? After all, the wall cavity is accessible from either side! Even with a cement board behind the tile, a professional can drill through the cement and wall tile from the backside to make an outlet, after removing drywall to deal with the running of the new circuit. You will have to check if the model you want needs a circuit of its own, separate from the existing bathroom outlet. If if does not, your electrician may be able to extend that existing run to the new outlet position. Once the work is done, the drywall can be patched (or plastered - whatever you have there) in the room behind the bathroom. My new outlet for my Toto seat is on the wall next to the toilet. If your toilet is in the corner, you may have the option of two walls, as I did.

I haven’t looked on You Tube, but I will. The seat has been removed. I’m just trying to figure out if it needs to be drained or if there is anything special that needs to be done. There was a tiny tiny bit of water (like maybe 3 drops) that came out the supply line, but I think that is to be expected. I’ve tilted it every which way to see if water would leak out and it hasn’t. However, I don’t want it to be unusable when they open the box in 6 months.

I narrowed down a toilet selection to the Toto drake dual flush 1.0 GPF & 0.8 GPF with S 550 washlet (fancy). I’m wondering if we will encounter plumbing issues with the low flush rate on our older home (built in 80s), or if I can assume we will be ok given we will use the bidet/water features anyway? Anyone have experience with this combo? Thanks.

My friend flew to Japan and there were washlets in the plane bathroom so use of a bidet in a "guest" setting is entirely cultural. I have a Toto toilet in my powder room and the top of the line Toto washlet in my master bath - it has all of the bells and whistles and it essentially washes itself because it waters down the sides of the bowl as one approaches it and then runs some kind of sanitizer/deodorizer after use. Of course it is properly cleaned once a week as well but it never looks dirty and I have extremely hard water which left a water line in my previous toilets. I don't think most people have any kind of "wow" reaction to a toilet except obviously the washlet with the automatic rising toilet lid is unique to many people. You can even program it so that the actual seat rises when a man stands in front of it which avoids any problems of users forgetting to put down the seat. The actual washlet is not close to $5000 - I think retail price is about $1500 but mine was a bit less because it was purchased through a trade discount. In terms of "wow" I would think the actual finishes are much more critical in providing a luxurious feel to a powder room - assuming that "wow" means "luxurious" and not just being "wowed" by technology. There are obviously toilets that are more attractive than some - non skirted toilets are hideous but I can't see I have ever really noticed a specific brand of toilet wowing me at a friend's home more than another
