Technically Challenged - Need Help!!!

The above is very true and unfortunately whoever responds must do it in simple terms or I'll I'll mess things up! I love the Garden Web and am a loyal viewer and occasionally ask questions on the decorating forum. Once in a while I want to look at other forums one of which is the message boards on HGTV but when I can see that someone submits a photo I'm unable to view it - a red circle with a line through it is on the screen. I emailed HGTV and was advised that I should be sure to be using the up-to-date version of my browser which is Mozilla Firefox which I am - and the latest version of Adobe Flash - which I installed. Also they advised to empty my cache, a word I never heard of before, but I did find it and did so and to enable cookies which I did. They also advised to type the address in the field and not to use favorites or book mark - which I did. Nothing worked and I'm still seeing that darn red circle. This of course is not an earth shattering problem in the scheme of things but if anyone can help - not too technical please, it would be appreciated. If you require any additional information please advise. Thanks.

Try logging into the HGTV message boards and you should be able to view the pictures. I did a search for the problem on the HGTV boards and found these posts.

Here and here.

You might try using a file to create a small groove in the round mounting plate in which you can wedge the pointed end of the set screw. If you tighten the screw into a crevice or groove, it won't be able to rotate. I have TP holders made by Ginger with a similar mounting system. So far, after more than 3 years, I haven't had any problems. You might want to look at the offerings from Ginger. Prices are a little on the high side....but it's top quality stuff. Need design and technical help with exterior white trim

I take it this is your house and you want advice about how to modify it. The white flashing between the siding and the pent roofs should have been dark. Painting it would depend on the material. The exterior cladding of a Shingle Style house should appear to be as continuous as possible from walls to roofs like a cloak, The designer seems to have not understand that idea or was unsure of the desired style. A Shingle style house should not have corner boards or clapboards; the shingles should wrap the corners. The downspouts should match the siding color. There's too much white trim. Are any of the materials synthetic or factory finished? The siding color is a bit cold and dull and creates too much of a contrast with the bright white trim. I would paint the trim cream or pale gray but the gutters would still be white. The biggest problem will be factory finished white metal — old wood or copper gutters and copper flashing are difficult to emulate with modern factory finished aluminum.

Update. Last night I was able to download iTunes to my HP laptop. Silly me, I connected the iPad to HP, pulled up iTunes and expected the iPad to open and give me the opportunity to reset a password. Not so! Then I read, re-read all the iPad links I could find on iTunes. I have a huge headache! I’ve loved having my iPad these past years!!! I use it solely for recreational purposes. Connecting with others who enjoy my hobbies. Primarily gardening, mostly with orchids. Square dancing. Keeping up with family & close friends via social media. Shopping, since I live in ‘the boonies’ far from any shopping malls. And simple games, scrabble, half dozen word games, card games, 42, solitaire. No internet games. Very boring to the current generations I suppose! Must I sync to the HP? Does this mean I’ll start all over with content of the iPad? Will I lose my email addresses, forum links?

Lackluster Lighting Needs Help! Challenge for three adjoining spaces

Calidesign That is where I am struggling! I find a light fixture that I like for one space, but can't find complementary light fixtures in the right size or color for the other two rooms. I am trying to choose transitional/neutral light fixtures that would appeal to wider buying audience, but not look out of place with my traditional furniture and accessories. We are not quite ready to sell, but expecting that in the next 12 to 18 months we may be. I was considering a crystal chandelier for the dining room, thinking that it would be more "flexible" to coordinate with the foyer and living room. Trying to do this on a budget, but would like to make a good first impression when folks walk in the front door. Thank you for your help!

I use FireFox, too, and love it. I know this is a different problem from the one you wrote in about, but just in case you should ever have trouble viewing a video when using the FireFox browser, did you know there is a FF add-on (or it may be called an extension--no matter!) that will let you get to see it by switching to Internet Explorer for just that one site? Just the one tab will open up in IE, while any other tabs you have open will remain visible in FF.

Don't be confused by the reference (on the IE Tab download page) to Web developers; it's fine for us ordinary folks, too. Just click on the green Install Now button to get it.

Don't be surprised if, for some sites where you have told FF to remember your password, the site makes you give it again when you view it on IE Tab. That is normal.

Here is a link that might be useful: Site for downloading the IE tab add-on (extension) for ForeFox
