Vista establishing a direct dial-up connections

I purchased a new notebook, and it has Vista Basic, nuts.

Much looks like XP, but there are important differences, one I discovered early. I have a WiFi and and Ethernet connections to my home network, but for dial-up I have all computers set to got directly to the dial-up, not use the home network. I can't figure out how to set that in Vista. When I dial up I get the connection alright, but within about 5 minutes the connection tries to revert to a connection through the home network, which isn't connected to the dial-up (or the internet at all). So, the connection to my browser is lost, the connection remains up via the notebook, but the signal path seems to be trying to go through the WiFi, and there is no connection there. I even unplugged the Router, no WiFi, and Vista still does this operation!
