Program for controlling CapsLock?

I have an new, inexpensive keyboard with no little lights to indicate when CapsLock is on, and I find myself constantly typing all in caps after inadvertently hitting the CapsLock key. I only realize it when I look up at the screen again (not a good typist), and I often have to retype whole lines.

Years ago I used a program called AntiCapsLock, which worked for me, but now that I have Windows 7, the OrionSoft site that makes the software gives Win XP as the latest OS for using it, and there is a message saying that as of "now" (Dec.2013, I think it was) "there is no version of ACL for Vista". I presume that that means it is not compatible with Win 7.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem? I would like to be able to toggle between CapsLock OFF and CapsLock ON.

...Or maybe I have to change keyboards!

Program called key mapper I've used when laptop had bad key. Disable or make caps lock another regular caps?

Try to be more careful with your fingers and the problem goes away.

Maybe use the right shift key instead of the left, if that's what's causing the problem?

In my opinion, a locking gas cap door is much preferred to a locking gasoline filler cap. Contact your dealer to see if a locking cap door can be installed. Go for the mechanical cable release type, not an add-on electric release. With an electric release, the cap-door can not be opened if the battery is disconnected or dead, and the electric solenoid does not have the reliablilty of a simple cable release. I had a locking gas cap a long tme ago, but stopped using it while on a trip away from home when I realized that I had only one key with me. It can be big trouble if one looses the key, or can't get the cap to unlock. So, if you do opt for locking gas cap, make sure that you have more than one key for it; Keep the orignal at home and travel with more than one copy; and keep the lock in the cap properly lubricated. Of course, keep the second copy of the key in a different place than the normal location.

Hey Don, I have a similar Rainbird ESP controller/computer with this 'cycle-and-soak' feature. What I've observed is that if I specify a valve runtime of 12 minutes, with a cycle time of 4 minutes and soak time of 10 minutes, the computer will run that zone a total of three times, 4 minutes each, with at least 10 minutes between each run. You should be able to adjust the cycle and soak intervals as you like for the valve in question. I have 8 valves on my system, but all share the same settings (4 minute cycle with 10 minute soak) -- simpler that way. So for example, if you have a runtime of 12 minutes for Valve 1 but only 8 minutes for Valve 2, with the same 4 minute cycle time, you'd see V1 run three times but V2 run only twice: V1-V2-V1-V2-V1 Basically the controller does the math to ensure all zones get the specified valve runtime, factoring in both cycle and soak critieria. On my system, the "Cycle and Soak" settings are under "Valve Settings" point on the dial. Hope that helps! Have fun...

Snidely, that's the most original idea I've come across; but I'm afraid that it would make my rather idiosyncratic typing even worse. I've never been able to use the right Shift properly.

Well, thanks to all of you who responded. It does seem as if my best bet is just to buy a keyboard that has lights to alert me to when CapsLock is on. Just wanted to be able to use this cheap one because it came with the new computer I got so that my husband and I could continue to use Win 7 for a long time! But sometimes life is easier if we are willing to spend a little more!

Would an audible beep be sufficient?

How to set a computer to beep when Caps Lock or Num Lock key is pressed

I haven't tried it but it looks promising.
