xmlparse.dll is a module that contains XML parser functions used by the Yahoo! Instant Messenger,AIM or ICQ.

should have absolutely nothing to do with your printer.

If you want to go back to the way it was before you did these changes I think I would do a simple system restore to the time before you added the flat bed scanner to the system. That way you would have it all back to how it was working properly then we could start doing some step by step trials. It is really important when making changes to your pc to remember to create new restore points prior to doing them so that if you need to revert back you can simply go to that restore point.

So what date was it you added the flat bed scanner to the pc? Go to Start> all programs> accessories> system tools> system restore and from the calendar select a bold date that corresponds to a date and time prior to doing that and choose that date to restore to. This is easily reversible and will not do anything except change the pc back to the settings it had on that day.

Well, I did a system restore and things are still wierd. When I clicked on the HP Director a box popped up that said:
hpqselsk.exe common language runtime debugging services
Application has generated an exception that culd not be handled. Process id=0xd20(3360), thread id=0xd24(3364)
Click OK to terminate the application
Click cancel to bebug the application.
I didn't know which to click, so I clicked the X at top of box. Then this box popped up:
Registered JIT debugger is not available. An attempt to launch a JIT debugger with the following command resulted in an error code of 0x2(2). Please check computer settings
cordbg.exe!a0xd20
Click retry to have the process wait while attaching a debugger manually
Click on cancel to abort the JIT debug request.
HUH? Did I totally mess something up? And if so is there a way to fix it?

What is your computer brand and model? You mentioned you deleted everything from add remove that had to do with HP did you happen to have anything else on that pc other than the printer that was HP?

what the message said was reinstall the program that was related to the dll error(xmlparse.dll) that program is NOT your printer it is either Yahoo messenger,AIM or ICQ which one do you have on your pc? You can go into Run Msconfig startup and disable which ever messenger you have and it may stop that error or you can remove them from your pc. This problem is totally unrelated to the printer. If you do changes in startup then reboot when you do it will pop up a box telling you changes have been made that is fine just put a check in the box that says do not show me this again.

I am wondering if when you went to add remove and removed all HP items if you got something not printer related.
and you are sure you went back far enough when you did system restore?

I'm using a Dell Inspiron. I got the printer and fax machine to work, but the HP Director button won't work. When I press on the button the hpqselsk.exe box pops up. I checked the HP website and it says there could be an issue between the all in one and IE7. It said to download the updates, (which I did)but it still doesn't work. I'm not comfortable using a registry cleaner for the dll file. I wouldn't know what to save or get rid of. Right now everything seems to be working well except the HP Director button.

no I never advise the use of registry cleaners for those not very familiar with the registry you can do some serious damage in there.

I would go to the HP area for your printer and click on the HP chat help and have a chat discussion with them, they are very good at helping that way.
