Jane, the dishes are Royal Stafford. I did find a set of Johnson Bros. at the same time. I didn't buy them though since the patterns were so similar.

LOVE the black & red, the sparkly round red placemats & the napkins they all go so well.

I must have missed your post about you falling, hope you didn't get hurt too badly, I just ache due to back problems, so we are in the same boat right now.

This must be an addiction for us to do all this when we are in pain!!! LOL

I think simplicity can be very classy! You did a great job of keeping the theme without going over the top. I think red candles might be nice too....maybe there's time between now and Christmas to get to town. Although, I don't know how far town is from you :)

Yachter, it was stupid really. My kitchen was filled with Christmas containers that we had brought in so I could decorate. I also had been vacuuming and hadn't put it up yet. The hose was laying on the floor and when I went to walk between the vacuum cleaner and containers, I stepped on the hose. It went rolling and threw me off balance. I hit the floor hard, knocking one of the containers off a chair. Of course ornaments broke too, along with what felt like my whole body. I have back problems too, so it didn't help help my back much.

It's really not been a good weekend at all. On top of that, we had to put our dog to sleep yesterday morning. Someone had shot him. It severed his spine and the whole back part of his body was paralyzed. The vet said there was absolutely nothing he could do for him. I think I'll almost be glad to go back to work tomorrow morning.

I'm so sorry to hear about you falling and hurting so much. Your table is beautiful, and I need your birdhouse centerpiece for mine!LOL I love your new dishes they are so pretty. I like using black and red so it's my kind of colors. Great job and if you want my address, just let me know. See what all these ladies have taught me in a short time. I like your table. Your new dishes are very pretty. I like the way those sparkling placemats bring out the red in your dishes.

I did more than one tablescape for Thanksgiving and really enjoyed it, even though I've been sick the whole time. I think it made me feel better to have the 'pretty' around.

Looking forward to more tablescapes from you.

OH my gosh, that is horrible what someone did to your dog, do you think it was a hunter or was it deliberate! I would be so sick that I would probably cancel Christmas. I'm so sorry, some people just don't realize that a pet is part of our family & they are helpless & defenseless! Makes me sick to think about this.

Yes, I'm a clutz too, on top of my back problems, I seem to trip & take tumbles alot, and that really doesn't help our backs at all, throws them all out of whack!

I've been fighting this latest problem for about 3 weeks now, pain from hip down to knee, but chiro is working it out! She works with the PT people I've gone to in the past, so she is the only Chiro I trust.

Again, so truly sorry about your dog!

Dream, what a bad weekend for you. I am like Yacht when it comes to dogs. I can't even imagine coping with someone hurting one of mine. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I don't know how you managed a table setting with all else going on, tho maybe it was a good distraction for you to do. The black and red is quite stunning. I love the dishes too. Royal Stafford made some of those I recently bought and they sure have lovely patterns. Tho so does Johnson Bros for that matter.

Hope everyone with bad backs and homes to decorate for Christmas makes it thru the next week. LOL. I am wondering how the heck I am plan to manage but guess like Nike says....Just Do It. Their old slogan is often my mantra when fighting my body these days.

Dream, that is just unbelieveable about your dog being shot! OMG! How could anyone do that? Do you live in a hunting area? It was an accident wasn't it? I'm so sorry for your loss, like Yachter said, they are our "family" too.

Backaches are so awful, don't know how you managed to create this beautiful table while you are in pain--I'd be finding a soft spot to lay and not do anything!

Your new dishes are gorgeous, and the black/red tablescape is great. Love your napkins too, they tie it all together so well. Can't wait to see all the pretty tables you create this season. ;o)

Dream, so sorry I forgot to send sympathy your way for your dog. When I read about it I was so angry but ran outside and put the truck away and came back in and just forgot after I started teasing about your cute birds and their house. No excuse, but truly sorry for your loss of a family member. Please forgive me.

Dreamgoddess, I'm just now seeing this and am sooo sorry about your fall as well as your dog. Sometimes the rain just doesn't stop, does it. Hoping for some sunny days in your future.

You are so brave to have done a tablesetting under these conditions and it's really lovely. Sometimes simple is better IMO. I love so much about it - the dishes, of course, and the white candles are perfect, actually better than red I think. I love the crystal candleholders and the plaid napkins. The red placemats make such a good contrast on the black tablecloth. Your little birdhouse and birds are adorable! All very nicely done!

Dream, SO SORRY to hear about your dog. That's really awful. Sorry to hear about your fall too. I will pray for you for the grieving and the physical pain.

Doing this setting did help take my mind off things for a while. I wish I could say it was a hunting accident, but unfortunately no, it was deliberate. This isnÂt the first dog that weÂve had that was shot. We do know who shot the first dog and we think the same man shot this one.

Dream, are your dogs leaving your property? They're not killing chickens or sheep or something are they? I just can't imagine why someone would shoot one, let alone two!

Have a story to share: My DB was a country school bus driver and his neighbors at the end of the lane had several dogs who would run out into the road barking and biting at the bus tires everytime he drove past--one of the dogs got run over and the Sherriff came to question my DB. Of course my DB told him he would never intentionally run over a dog, but if he did hit one it was because they were running out into the road chasing the bus as well as any other vehicles that came by. Guess the Sherriff then went back to the neighbors and told them it was their responsibility to keep the dogs out of the road and not to call him again. DB felt really bad to think the bus might have run one over, but knew he had no control of whether they got in front of a tire while he drove by.

I just hate to hear about things like this, dogs are so trusting and loving, I'd watch out for that guy--takes a really mean person to kill a dog I think.

Hope your back was feeling lots better today and that you had a good day back at work. Hope you will feel like creating more tables soon, your's are always so pretty. Take care.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I would be brokenhearted, my dog is like a child to me now, I just can't imagine anything that horrible happening, I am really sorry you have to have gone through that!
