If you read the specs the s x s do have more freezer space. I was set on buying CD FD until I started to do the research. I love how the FD refs. look but, for us, the s x s seems to make more sense. Guess it depends on your family. We are 2 seniors so don't need freezer space to fit pizza boxes (we make our own pizza). We shop for fresh fruits and vegs. several times a week. So we don't need the bigger space of the fresh food part of the ref. When we both worked we shopped once a week. When we were first married had a top freezer ref. and I hated trying to find things up there. FD is same, just freezer on bottom instead of top. So my advice is to take a look at your family composition, your shopping habits, and then get what you feel works best for your family. Like I said, I think the FD is better looking but s x s works best for us! Good luck!!

We bought a Kenmore Elite 27.6 cu. ft. FD fridge with Ice and Water Dispenser this past May. It has a Slim In-Door Icemaker, and the ice comes in two options - crushed or cubes. Has all the other options you like - full deli drawer, foldable and extendable shelves, 2 produce compartments, nice bottom freezer with a pull out shelf. Very happy with the performance, we use a lot of ice and water every day. Item # in Canada - 463 671 052 10. Mfg. number 71053.

All very good reasoning. :) My drawer fridge is only 24", and even so, I got very jealous of the space it took up. It was the one luxury thing that made it from my pre-design wish list to the final plan, though, and I love it. :) So, yes, with the drawing you have, on the top drawer, then, the cabinetmaker puts vertical and horizontal frames, where they would be, and center panels with hardware between, so you have two faux drawer fronts and frames covering the one drawer. I'd suggest putting the frame in between the bottom panel on the top drawer and the bottom actual drawer on the bottom drawer, so that the proportions are better. Top drawer top horizontal and middle horizontal frames, plus two fronts; bottom drawer frames on all sides of single front. But you can do it any way that pleases your eye and looks best with the rest of the cabinets. The warming drawer should be flush. You don't have to push it all the way back in the cabinetry if it's shorter. It needs to be properly supported and installed according to the instructions is all. The cabinetmaker can build a box to fit it so it'll sit nicely within the inset framing, if you make a stack to fit that way. If the unit is too wide for the space you can give it, that is, if you only have room for two feet, and the WD is taking up all that room, you can just do the faux posts on its panel as well. Your eye might go to the splits where the drawer really is, but I promise most people won't notice even if they're looking for it. I had everything that would stand for it panelled, but I didn't want to hide the purpose of the units. I just didn't want big metal blobs. So I put appliance pulls (very beautiful custom ones) on each so people would have a clue of where to find them. :)

We had to decide between SubZero and Perlick drawers. In the end, we picked Perlick. There were a little bit of growing pains. The initial factory settings resulted in frozen coils every few weeks. I guess, it depends a little bit on your climate. The service technician tweaked the settings and the drawers have now been working fine for over a year. So, I guess the problem is fixed. We like that they are more spacious than then SubZero drawers. And we like that there is no ice maker, which we didn't want (takes up way too much space in drawers). But we don't like that Perlick is a little noisier than SubZero. So, I think in hindsight, it's a bit of a wash. We probably would have been fine with SubZero as well. We do have a SubZero all-fridge column that goes with two sets of freezer drawers. That combination is amazing. So much nicer than traditional freezers.
