Kohler Archer tub owners - Do you find it too narrow?
Comments (3)We actually just installed this in the hall bath for the 3rd/4th bedrooms - same 3-wall alcove, with integrated apron. We liked it for the plain apron and clean, straight lines. I never really noticed before now, but I do see how its pinching in about a third-way down makes it a bit narrower at the base. I've never showered in it since it is our guest bath, however, I don't think it would feel noticeably narrower than other tubs. The spec says it's 19.75" at the base; other tubs of this size may say around 22" at the base but are slightly oval, so they may taper to 20" or less towards where you'd be standing. The Bancroft does appear to be 22" where you'd stand, so it is indeed wider. But try standing with your feet 20" apart; it's not really a position you'd be standing naturally in the shower for any length of time. We did put a curved shower rod in though, so that our guests would get more room around the arms and elbows. If you like the look of the Archer, as we did, I don't think the difference will be bothersome....See MoreTub--Kohler Archer or Americast Cambridge
Comments (9)I agree with you on filling the tub to the overflow leaving less room for spillover (hadn't thought of that) but that assumes they would fill it to the overflow - my 11 yr old daughter might - but she's not the one splashing. If my 2 yr old or 5 yr old filled the tub that much they'd practically float away (forget about drowning hazard) But I could just imagine letting my 2 yr old splash away to his hearts content with the higher walls - what a thrill that would be for him! But I am still leaning towards the archer it has a much sleeker look and I like the overflow location better. There are lots of positive reviews for the archer here so I'm confident it's a good choice good luck, Rachel Here is a link that might be useful: Evolutions Alcove Tub...See MoreKohler Archer Bath Tub
Comments (15)Hi mh_bath, I wasn't entirely sure you are asking me, but since mine is the only pic that shows the horizontal overflow, I'm going to guess yes, so here's the answer: The overall length is 6'3". I am not sure whether using the horozontal overflow (rather than some other design) increases the depth or not... but it's a really nice deep soak. You can check specs for water depth; I do recall that this tub had a deeper maximum fill than many others I looked at. We set ours in a mud bed for stability and insulated all around it and it's wonderful... very solid feeling and keeps the water warm a looooooong time :)...See MoreAmericast or Kohler Archer Tub
Comments (2)Wish I could help. I'm in the midst of a bathtub dilemma myself :( Who knew it would be so complicated! Kohler Archer is out for us because it's acrylic. I don't like American Standard ANYthing but was willing to go with it because it's proven almost impossible to find what we want. When my husband saw that the bottom of the bathing well of the (Cambridge) tub was 6" SHORTER than the tub he has now, he nixed that one too....See Morebireland
