Are you using an on-board or an on-line mail client? Also, which one(s)?

Do you type out the whole address like, www.whatever.com?

If so, your email program should convert it automatically to a clickable item.

Check in your sent mail box and see if your addresses appear clickable there. Maybe something in your receipents email programs which are blocking the links.

I'm using Hotmail from the actual Hotmail site and use Firefox as the browser.

When you click on 'new' to send a message in hotmail and start a new message you will see 'show plain text' under the subject line. Click on this and it will change to 'show rich text'. Paste your link and when you send it it will be clickable. You can check this in your 'sent' box.

Woohoo! That did it! I sent a blind carbon copy to myself as well as my junk email addy, and it was clickable.

Sue, That may work for you and alot of others, but if your sending the link to an AOL user it won't. AOL automatically turns off any link in an email for security purposes. You will have to format the link in HTML for it work for them. Just a thought on my part ;o)

Hmmm...one challenged friend does have AOL. So how would I format it in HTML for her...say using the URL to the Computer Forum here.

I thought there was a way where one would see the URL...even on AOL. ok...this will do it. Thanks Mikie for reminding me I knew how to do it.

I have to send out an email everyweek with an updated webpage of mine and half of the people use AOL so I have a draft setup and saved with all the codes I can just add the updates to. Regular isp users have asked me what all the extra stuff is, but AOL users just know they can click on the link and have no clue ;o)

Umm. I have AOL. And the links are clickable, even if I send them without any fancy preparation beforehand.

I use AOL mail also and have never done all that. My links are clickable and I use Firefox.

I'm using AOL and the links I receive are all clickable (active) unless I go into Mail Options/ Mail settings and in the General tab select 'Hide images and disable links in mail from unknown senders'.

Jane, I'm wondering if it just needs done when folks send 'you' emails. I'm going to email you at your AOL addy from my Hotmail just using plain text. You can then let me know if it is a clickable link.

Maybe AOL has since change that setting in their email service. I'll have to check into that. It sure would save me alot of extra work!

I don't use the AOL program, just their free email. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Opened your email from IE and FF, both were clickable. Must be some setting on AOL that I don't have.

hmmmm...so when I sent to you I just used plain text and it was clickable, yet when I send to my challenged AOL friend she usually (maybe always) cannot click on them.

hmmmm...just hard telling at this point I guess.

I don't know, maybe its not you, might be her settings. Your link was blue and opened right up.

I just received a link from a friend who has AOL, and it was not clickable. I had to do a copy and paste to open it.
