Width of water closet

My husband and I are adding a master bath/closet area to out 70 year old home. We have had plans drawn up already. On the far wall of the bath we have double vanities and a toilet area separated by a pony wall. If I can make the width of the toilet area including the knee wall 34" (effectively making the space 30" wide, we will have enough room for a set of drawer on each side of each vanity. It would make everything symmetrical and make my life easier, in general. My question is, will I be unhappy with the toilet area this narrow? Will it look bad? I was thinking since it isn't an enclosed water closet I could get away with it since it will have a more open feel.
