Appliance Choices - Feedback please

Okay I admit I may have lost my mind today (see later on in the post for details), here is the list of my current appliance selection. I am certainly willing/able to make some changes, as I did several times in the store today.

Oven - Dacor MOV130S - in reading the forum it sounds like there are some quality issues, but the probe may be fixed and it sounds like Dacor stands behind the other issues.

Convection Microwave - Dacor DCM24S with AOCTK30S trim kit (this was free with Oven purchase)

Dishwasher - Here is really where I may have lost it - I went in thinking that I was going to buy an integrated Bosch, but the Dacor (24") was on sale, and of course the matching handle with the stove is nice, so I - for the moment - chose MDW24 (stainless steel) - the Millenia. I have read all of the horror stories about the 30" Dacor dishwasher, which they ended up replacing with the 24" so it sounds like they haven't had the same problems. But I have found no comments on this model - thoughts?

Cooktop - Jenn Air - 36" JEC9536BDS with the Vent a hood PRH9-136SS

Fridge - Stainless Steel LG - French doors. I chose the 22CU ft here instead of 25Cu ft as this saved $800 - thoughts? Is this a reasonable place to save money (we will have a 18cu ft fridge only downstairs)?

That's it for now. I would really appreciate your input on this.

Where to start?
Oven: If you are going to go with Dacor, stick with the Classic Series oven (MCS130S). It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles as the MOV130S, but as a cooking instrument, its a better oven, and half the price. If you want to drop $3000 plus on an oven, check out Wolf or Miele.

Microwave: If you order the DCM24, you may want to order your replacement LCD control panel with it. Save money and buy Sharp R930CS with RK9S30 trim kit. Sharp is the same oven without the troublesome LCD panel, and about $300 less.

Dishwasher: Dacor is a cooking products company, making their second attempt at dishwashers. Stick with the Bosch.

Cooktop and Hood: Good choices; you won't be disappointed.

Refirgerator: LG is to major kitchen appliances what Dacor is to Dishwashers. Make sure you have a local service network. Service in some areas is like pulling teeth. It's one thing if its a plamsa TV, but your fridge is another (well you do have a spare downstairs though). Check out Maytag/Amana french door models.

Bump. Applianceguy - if not going with a Dacor Classic and need a 27" double oven, what do you suggest?

There is no one perfect range but hopefully you can find the one that is best for you. This forum can be a great source of information. I would search any brand that you are considering to find comments by people who actually own and use a specific appliance. You can see how they use them and find specific strengths and weaknesses in the context of real life cooking. Here are a couple about the two ranges mentioned. Dacor Review (in bits and pieces over time) It sounds like she does more than reheat to me. American Range Performer - experiences of recent buyers? Try to see the ranges in person and if possible cook on them. Read the use and care manuals and all terms of the warranty online. You might find an exclusion like this in the warranty. "Parts Exceptions:Rubber seals, grates, light bulbs and gaskets are warranted for 90 days from purchase. Oven door glass breakage is not covered by this warranty. Porcelain and glass components are excluded from this warranty. American Range Warranty Policy With all the problems I have had with porcelain interiors, this is an unfortunate deal killer for me. Mine have been of the blue variety but the fact that they don't cover it from the beginning is a little scarey. Others have had glass windows shatter and was replaced under warranty.

You may not have time right now, but a kitchen remodel is, for most of us, a one-time thing. In future years, if you have the interest you may have or make more time to cook, and as the boys grow, they might actually show interest in cooking as well. (Both of my children do, at 13 and 15 they're fairly proficient in the kitchen). I say if you want to select appliances to cook and bake the way you would like to, why not? That said, I own a Miele Inspira, and it's a great dishwasher. I've had it since August and it does a wonderful job. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. I also have a 42 inch 600 CFM Vent a Hood (for my 36 inch induction cooktop) and I have no complaints there, either. Have fun with the new kitchen. If this is as tiny a kitchen as you indicate, then you will gain 24" of counter space by going with a range instead of an oven and cooktop, unless you are mounting that oven under counter. Then at that point, it makes NO sense to go with a cooktop and wall oven. Your appliance and cabinet costs will also be much less with a range. I would NEVER opt for a wall oven and cooktop in a small kitchen. And if it's a truly small kitchen, then an OTR starts to make sense as well. As far as Fagor, well, you're going to have to be the guinea pig and report back if you go down that road. Someone has to be among the first in America to take that chance!

I've got the full depth KA Architect II FD refrigerator. Lovely unit with beautiful interior. I recessed the space behind the wall to create a faux integrated look without losing the storage capacity. It has a triple drawer feature in the freezer that makes the freezer really useful. Take a look at the Bosch DW. I've had many through the years at various homes. Never a moments trouble. I've had them at all price points. I can recommend them. Your ventilation will be a little more problematic. You absolutely install proper ventilation to the outside. You should get rid of that microwave above the stove. You should not vent into the porch. That's a code issue. It must vent above the porch. You should talk to someone about it before you make any decisions. This way you can plan for ventilation. It's better to install your warming drawer close to the surface where you plate the food. This may not be the stove top. I suggest you consider nearby cabinets, too. The kitchen forum can help you with placement.
