Don't think you are going to find one.

42 or 48 most likely means built in. Generally 36 is the widest for non BI. Built in typically means more money. Best bet is to check out square footage capacity on CD fridges. Electrolux has a french door that is supposed to be around 22 sf.

Recessing a standard depth 36" into the wall is the most economical way to go. Add a second fridge in a garage/laundry room type location if you need additional capacity. That's still cheaper than any of the built in fridges, even considering the cabinetry side panels to make it appear to be built in.

We faced a similar situation with the current remodel of our narrowish galley kitchen. My SO did not want to go smaller than our current 25 cu ft SxS, and I didn't want a fridge that stuck out as far as our current (otherwise excellent) Kenmore. Turned out only GE and KA had SxS counterdepth fridges that approach 25 cu ft (24.6 cu ft to be exact). Given all I've read about noise with the GE, we are going with the KA. Getting it for just $1,700 as part of the package of appliances from a local independent. (They can't officially discount Wolf, Ventahood etc, but they can take it out of the prices of the other brands -- and they do!)

Samsung has announced a counter-depth french-door for this summer that's 23 cu ft, the RFG 237 and RFG 238.

We're doing what live_wire_oak recommends: recessing a regular Samsung by 3" into the studs, and using side-panels to make it look built in. (still extends forward a bit, because of the needed 2" air space in the back). This gives us 28.5 cu ft in 36" width.

We considered a 42" or 48" fridge, but it would've given us much less useful counter space next to the fridge.

Our remodel is still not done, so no photos yet, but every time I go to an appliance store I drool over the 28.5 cu ft fridge. (we now have an annoying SxS in the rental)

I really like those Samsung models. I don't think we can recess our wall, as this wall leads down to the basement and although I am no expert, it seems like we would have to recess into head space going down the steps. That being said, the Samsung has a 24.1 side by side and the new 23 cubic feet french door model as you point out, infohound2006. Can anyone provide pros/cons for the samsung side by side v. french door? It would be nice to have the additional shelf space in the french door, but seems like the side by side would organize frozen foods better. Any other thoughts? thanks all.
