firefox and me

I want to use firefox more as I understand it is better for security and seems to download faster. I know I have to go through AOL. What would you do first if you wanted to use

firefox? Mail? Bookmarks? ???

Are you on Broadband? If so you do not have to go through AOL You can reach your AOL account for Email on Foxfire just by going to the web site- www.AOL.com and logging in. I kept my FREE AOL for mail, but use Foxfire for everthing else.

I don't understand your connection of AOL and Firefox. Are you an AOL subscriber? If yes, so what? Firefox is a generic browser and works with all web sites that do not require Active-X features of MicroSoft Internet Explorer: e.g, the Microsoft update and support site, Panda is another, but only for active scan functions.

For email I recommend Thunderbird, the sibling of Firefox. It to is generic, a generic email "client". It should work with AOL, Worldnet, you name it...

Kristi, I got some spam on the club site so I made it private. I'll open it up and you can sign into the club site. I've been away on a camping trip but I just got back. I'm heading for the Johnson County Garden Show now. Jolana, I need to write MSN about the stupid problems we've had with you signing in. I went back to version 8. I did not recover the old screen composition but did regain the speed I lost with version 9. I use a lot of 3 tier screens on bookmarks. The screens used to be smaller but now they are so big that when the third tier screen pops up it flips back to the left side overlaying the first tier screen. Both screens being white on white makes for a split second look to see where the starting point is. A nuisance and unnecessary change in my book. Thanks for the link. It worked perfectly.

Iris Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.228 is the latest version. If you right click on the black are where the video would normally show you will get a pop up showing which version you have. I realise you stated you had the most recent version in your original post. This is the update site for Adobe Flash if you are not up to date. BE SURE to remove the check mark where it suggests installing McAfee too - unless you want McAfeee of course. Are you able to view the nests on the CBC site? Again this morning I too am only getting a black screen at the Hancock site.

I had to open a minimum of 12 tabs before that little x disappeared. If that's a problem for you, why have so many tabs open? Still, you can click on any tab you want to close and the little x will appear, or you can right-click a tab and close it. The other option would be to open some of your tabs in a new Firefox window instead of cramming all your open tabs onto one window. It's not an add-on, it's a feature. It is usually a more rewarding experience to find out what Firefox is capable of instead of wondering why it doesn't work the way you think it should.

pamies.......I am on dialup. Only other way would be a satellite. That is way out of my budget. Broadband in the next 20 years.

jerry nj I sign on with AOL (which is IE from what I understand) then I go to firefox. What do you mean by "so what"? That sounds a little off to me.

My question is what do you who use firefox use, the list of add ons is long and I was wondering what would benefit a person who does research with the future hope of setting up a web site??

Hi pinecone,
From what I understand you are on dialup and you do a lot of research.Then you will like using Firefox's tabs.For example say your doing a Google search for "pinecone".Once you have the results from google for your search I just middle click(that would be clicking on the scroll wheel) I can put the item I'm clicking on in a separate tab WITHOUT closing the Google page. I can then go to as many as I want and they will load in the background.

I downloaded Firefox after months of problems with the new Netscape (8) and both IE 6 and 7. I love Firefox! I love the tabs, because that's what I loved most about Netscape (7.2 was great--I still use it at work). And I have NO bookmark problems, NO loading problems, NO login issues, no problems at all *knock on wood*. :)

p.s. I have DSL through Verizon.
