Yes they are there since the "little tiny rubber feet" don't stay on. Where they have stayed on there are no scratches...none not even after 1 1/2 years. Here are pics of 3 corners with the scratches. Sorry they are blurry it is hard to get the lighting right ! The feet deteriorate after heat and time. I have a bag of replacement ones but was never able to get them in the holes. Rayna is right. They do not show at all when the grates are in place. The cook top is a gem as far as its reliability and heat and control. Pics of the cooktop in use are at the link below under food pics and finished kitchen pics. I sure would buy it if I were you. Thank you! Will do!! I was just trying to find their number, funnily enough. ----------------- OK, I just called and this is what I learned ... in case someone else finds it helpful. I was afraid they would say YOU CAN'T USE A DOWNDRAFT, SILLY. But no! They said the cooktops have been used in rigorous chef school conditions with a downdraft and work beautifully. Suggested a: Thermador UCD 36 -- 14 or 15 inch downdraft (pointed out that this recommendation was made some time ago, and the Thermador numbers may have changed) And said, one with a high snorkel over 500 cfm velocity should work just great!

I have a 36" cooktop that was installed in the fall of 2009. I purchased it via a vendor I found on eBay for a great price. Since I had never cooked on gas before, I'm not sure how I can compare the Caldera (my previous cooking surface was a 1966 electric coil cooktop of which only two coils worked) to other gas cooktops. That being said, I like the Caldera very much. I do find even the small burners to be rather powerful, so I sometimes use the two-hob induction cooktop that we have on our island for things like multi-hour soup simmering and the like. The one issue I had with the Caldera had to do with replacing the center grate (the design changed, but we had the older model grate). The person with whom I dealt at Eurostoves was wonderful about providing service; he ended up sending three sets of grates before everything worked out, but he sent them quickly and at no charge. We did decide to get an extended warranty on the Caldera although, after speaking with various plumbers and appliance people, my understanding is that there's not all that much that can go wrong and that most repair people would be able to fix any problem. I am interested in both of these. I had decided to buy the new bluestar drop in cooktop but then while searching for the perfect 36" oven stumbled across the Caldera and Siemens cooktops. The attraction for me is the appearance is quite nice and clean while still offering good performance. Hopefully someone will see this and have some input.
