Multiple questions

My Dell desktop is now a few years old. Windows 7 Home Edition Deluxe (or something like that). Dell loaded crappy stuff such as Roxio Burn-- which wants to override most of the good programs for the disc drive. One is Dell Datasafe which tries to sneak in updates frequently. I don't know what it does-- but suspect that Dell is really not my friend. Is it spyware? Of any value to me?
I think my computer is USB2. Any compatibility problems with USB3 which I see on some things?
To move some video ISO files off my hard drive, can I get an external hard drive for my older (locally built) Windows XP computer which is never used online anymore, put the video files from my Dell a couple at a time onto flash drive and then take then to the older computer and onto the external hard drive? There is some junk on my Dell that I do not want on the external drive and for that reason I will not hook it to the Dell. I do plan to clean up the Dell but do not want to lose my video files and some others.
Thanks once again for your help.
