Venus Fly Trap must NOT get any fertilizer. They also want lots of bright light, as much as you can give them, I believe. But if it's been in lower light, transition to higher light slowly. If your water has lots of minerals in it, use RO or distilled water. I stay on the safe side and use distilled water for my carnivorous plants. If you are in zone 8 you can actually put your Venus Fly Trap outside to overwinter, and make life easier on yourself. Otherwise, you're going to have to figure out how to deal with the dormancy period. I don't have one of these specifically because I don't have a good way to deal with the dormancy, nor can I keep it outside. I think you can simulate dormancy with a fridge, but I don't know the details. It would probably be best to do a search for Venus Fly Trap over in the carnivorous plants forum and read up on Venus Fly Traps in general, and what people have posted about dormancy. If most of the African violet has died off, it will now be very overpotted (in a pot too big for it). This is a prime situation for rot to set in, and kill off the rest of it. If it is only a few suckers popping out of the soil, which sounds very small, I would repot them into a 3oz Solo cup with a hole punched in the bottom for drainage. The palm sounds like it needs more light and more water. However, if the leaves are crunchy, even if they are still green, those leaves are dead. Hopefully it isn't all like that. Aloes are pretty tough, but I'd put it out of reach of your toddler so it can recover. I've never grown dumb cane, but get that out of reach of your toddler as well. It is toxic. Hope this helps!

First off congradulations on a great rooting job!! That's not easy in summer. Cut the root off the bottom of the pot. It's not needed. There are plenty of roots inside the pot to make it through the winter. Just keep it moist, not wet, until it can planted next spring. Doesn't need a bigger pot or any fertilizer if it's growing that fast.

A couple of points. On the dryer. I think they are normally wired for 40 amps. Therefore the 10-3 wire you are talking about is not large enough. You will need 8-3 (40 amps). If you check the present breaker I think you will find it is a 40 amp. On the smoke/co's. I have used BRK ac/dc just because the access to the battery is on the side which means that the battery can be changed without removing the whole thing from the ceiling/wall. They make a combination and their smokes and co's can be interconnected. The one big thing that I believe you have to be careful with in MH's is aluminum wire. I believe that by 1982 its installation had been discontinued, but I'm not positive. If you have aluminum wiring, then you have to be sure that all connections are tight and that any switches, receptacles, breakers, etc. that you replace are rated to be used with aluminum. In other words, I think that you can get by with the aluminum and be fairly safe, but you have to take extra precautions. From my experience, and in my business I've probably owned close to 75 MH's, if the home looks like it has been worked on by the previous homeonwer, you have to be careful. People do all kinds of crazy things. They often mix 12-2 wire with 14-2. For some reason the DIY work in mobile homes tends to be of a poorer quality than the typical site built home. I've seen 4 or 5 fires in mobiles and they have all been caused by either wiring or furnaces.

Elizabeth, straw is right. Growing from seeds is not worth the effort unless you are propagating new breeds of roses. I live in NWFL, but I grew up in south Florida. The central fl rose society has a lot of good info on rose care in fl. http://www.centralfloridarosesociety.org/info/index.asp Also the UF extension office has some info too. http://solutionsforyourlife.ufl.edu/hot_topics/lawn_and_garden/pruning_roses.shtml Typically south fl has a year round growing season (except, as surprising as this sounds, Summer may induce some dormancy since it is SO hot). I'm not sure if you want own roots or grafted- but for south FL I would recommend fortuniana grafted roses since there are root knot nematodes in the sand in FL that like to eat the roots of most own root roses. There are certain old garden roses that do fine I've heard being on their own roots- Mrs.B.R.Cant is one I hear great things about. I am in North FL and noticed certain parts of my soil were very rich in organic matter (which RKN hate) sooooo I chose to try own root Austins raised no spray and organically. I didn't want to try and find fortuniana grafted roses in the types I wanted. Also since fortuniana is cold sensitive I didn't want to worry about that either. Since you live down in South FL, 'cool roses' in west palm beach sells grafted roses on fortuniana. some other people in the regular Rose forum told me all my roses will die since they are not grafted. I say research possible prevention methods for RKN such as putting a pink bark layer at the bottom of the planting hole (they hate acid and will supposedly leave the roots alone) and organic amendments such as organic peat. Also I heard they don't like concrete and planting near concrete will keep them away... who know. I know all my plants are looking good even though they are young- oldest ones are 2 years old. Lastly, as other pests go, I hear a lot of those down south complain of chili thrips. I haven't experienced them where I am at but I suggest you research them as well so you'll be ready in case they go after your flowers. I hope I didn't scare you away from growing roses. As pathetic this sounds, they have definitely been one of the most positive things in my life to cheer me up when I'm depressed and growing something beautiful is very rewarding when they do well and bloom because it's all your hard efforts and labor to be able to 'feast your eyes' upon your pretty garden.
