GE Cafe Stainless Steel knobs are here!

Last week I called GE's customer care line to get replacement knobs for my Cafe dual fuel range, due to the typical bubbling/melting issue. They said no problem, we'll send you three.

When I got the package, there was only one knob, and it was all stainless steel. A bit smaller than the original knobs, but it fit and worked. Don't think you'd know they are smaller if they are all the same. So I called this morning and they are sending me, for free, all new stainless steel knobs for the range.

Soooooo, anyone that has the range and has had the knob issue, call and get replacements. They obviously responded to the complaints, made substantial stainless knobs, and are willing (for now) to just give them away to current owners, even if you're out of warranty like myself.

Very happy about this. They look and feel SO much better. It is interesting that they aren't advertising them on their website under replacement parts.....

Yes, I am happy with it - I have the dual fuel model. My only complaint with it has been the knobs, which is now a non-issue. It looks great, and for me, has performed well. I've had no problems. The front right burner takes a little getting used to (the one with dual flame), but it works great for boiling a big pot of water for pasta, etc.

I thought they'd fixed this issue... but maybe not? I had delivery recently and only now noticed that there were still plastic knobs. If it's an old model they delivered 2 weeks ago, I need to have that rectified... if not, I need to remove knobs before broiling, apparently...

You can buy the brushed copper (or whatever color you like) knobs and handles from Home Depot! EASY to switch out! Just look for Cafe brushed copper knobs under HD's site.

Personally, I love the look of the GE cafe line with the different colored handles. I would be nervous of it looking dated in a few years. I would also worry about getting the whole line because what if they discontinue it and something fails in a few years and you have to replace that one appliance; what would you replace it with? ( I don't believe in getting all the same appliances from one manufacturer anyway but rather what is the best of or what suits me the best. ) I have been researching the Cafe 30 inch double oven with induction cooktop (in stainless steel) and haven't seen much negative about it other than the bottom oven might be very low down when you want to use it. I like the versatility of having the small oven when I need to heat up something quickly or crisp bread.

The only stainless steel I have found that is fingerprint resistant is textured stainless that has a 3D effect rolled into it. My sink is like that, custom made in the Prestige finish from Havens Metal. I believe Rachiele also offers an option like that for custom-made metal items like sinks and vent hoods. You might consider paneling a refrigerator which you can do if you get a panel-ready model that accepts cabinetry fronts. I haven't seen many textured appliances that are not discontinued on the market, though. The type of finish to which I am referring is more than just a "brushed" textured finish, it is a 3D design rolled into the metal. Works great to hide fingerprints and water spots.

I broke one of the knobs on my GE Cafe dual fuel range (it's plastic) and called GE for a replacement and they wanted to charge me $70 for a single knob. I can't afford that! Does anyone know of any other place to get a replacement knob?

My wife just broke one of the plastic knobs and I read about the stainless knobs. I would like to replace all of them. Please send me the phone number and a contact for the stainless knobs. If they are a different size and shape please send a picture.

I have the electric version of this range and I hate it The knobs are all melting as mentioned but even worse it takes forever to boil a pan of water It doesnt matter which burner you use, the heat cycles so it takes a long time to heat up
