Question involving IWon.com

Today when I went to this site, and yes I know it is not a good one, but do get some email on it, after I signed it AVAST stopped it immediately to tell me that a Trojan horse (I think that is the name) had been detected and it quarantined it) I cannot get in my mail. I don't want to open anything involving this web site because I don't want anything to get into my computer. I asked hubby if I should delete it and maybe later reinstall it if needed? He wasn't sure.

Question, should I just delete IWon.com and not use it at all?

Iwon.com is a website. How would you delete it? Did you install something from there?

I have had this site for years, don't know where I got it. Did use it as a email address before I got my others. Some of my relatives still use to to either send those dumb jokes or send me a how are you two line message but give you no information. I have given them another email to use, but they just don't want to change. There must be some way to elimate it.

I assume you mean Adobe Acrobat Reader??? Adobe makes a lot of different programs. I would think that if you reinstalled the program you have and this time use the correct number it would override the bad install from before. And I would guess that the faulty install just damaged the display-ing of your files and not the files themselves. But, I'm just guessing.

Purrus, we had a very similar problem in the kitchen of a house we recently built. Long story short, some cabs needed to be removed and rebuilt to achieve symmetry. Based on GW advice, we did what sailorgirl did, except the narrow cabinet that filled up the "extra" space on the wider side of the range was made into a tall pull out pantry rather than just a narrow cabinet that was otherwise identical to the rest. I know a tall pull-out won't work for you, but just a thought, maybe consider making the narrow cab otherwise decorative or distinct...maybe with a glass-fronted door, or even making it open shelving. It just helps set it apart design-wise from the other doors on both sides of the range which will now be identical in size, it's a chance to have an accent cabinet.

Laura - Take a deep breath, you probably won't want to hear this! What you're experiencing is par for the course when your child transitions from preschool to kidnergarten, whether private or public school. I had SUCH A HARD TIME adjusting when my first son started K - I felt like I had no idea what he was doing, and he went to K in a private Catholic school! He's now in public school (financial downturn for us), and DS #2 started K (public school) this year and it's the same thing all over - I feel like I have no idea what's going on. It's strange that your district doesn't allow parents to volunteer in their child's room. Our district practically BEGS parents to volunteer, and I spend every other Friday in one of the boys' rooms. That does give me glimpse on how they are doing, but doesn't help with the day to day anxiety! The transition to K is harder on Mom than the kid! Preschool felt so "safe" - like I knew everything about my son's day! But K is a new world - "real" school - where the kids are more on their own, and so are the parents! What has helped me to deal with this is becoming very active on the PTA. That way I get to know the principal and teachers away from the classroom setting, and that makes it easier for me to call them up if/when I need to. I wish I had more advice to help, but there really isn't much you can do. Just remember, I had the same exerience with DS #1 in a private Catholic school, so it's not just public schools. Give it a little time and see if you feel more comfortable. I'll keep you in my prayers!

What's involved in moving/installing a can light?

Even moving one a few inches may be signifiant work. If the cale to the light has enough slack, or you are moving it along the cable towards a feed point it is not all that hard with attic access. If the one you want to move feeds another lights, now you have two cables that must reach the new location, or junction boxes must be added. New lights in a kitchen with an attic above may require a new circuit (more $$ since it has to run all the way to the panel) or you may be able to use an existing circuit to feed them. With attic access and no new circuit it is a few hours (at least around 30 minutes per light). Remember that the ceiling has to be cut, the light mounted, then wired. Make a mistake cutting the ceiling that the trim ring does not cover and you have a drywall repair to contend with. This is one of the reasons that slow and methodical wins. If the ceiling is anything but drywall, it gets harder and takes longer. If a ceiling joist is in the way the lights move or a LOT of work is required by a carpenter to move it. If the 'joist' is the bottom cord of a truss, it needs an engineer's stamp to alter the truss (better to move the light usually). About all you can do is learn to do the work yourself, or get multiple bids.

you should really really stay away from that site it has a very bad reputation. It is a RED listed WOT site if you were using WOT as I recommend everyone do you would not be able to go to the site it would be blocked. Just to see how bad it is here is their WOT report card, 9 pages of complaints and many are about malicious content and trojans

Not to mention that site is listed at malwaredomain which should mean do NOT go there.
I can not imagine anything worthwhile that would make me risk it.

I would run an updated malwarebytes scan immediately.

In addition I would urge you to go to the WOT score card page and rate it yourself and provide the info about the trojan that it put on your pc, that is how we learn about sites and can help others learn. If you do not have WOT please consider getting it for all your browsers.

Thanks, but I did run Malwarebytes and I do have WOT. I still would like to know how to get rid of this program. I can go to WOT, and try to put in the information.

You still need to explain what you mean by "get rid of this program." If you mean simply deleting the bookmark, that's one thing. But if you mean you installed something from that site and it is running on your computer, that's another thing.

I apparently installed it many years ago and it was pretty good. Now with this virus, I would like to uninstall the program. AVAST quaranteed the trojan virus.

On one of my older computers with "WOT" installed on it I have "myIwon.com as a home page. It shows up with a good rating.I've had that home page for years. I don't play any of the games. I know if you go to Iwon.com Wot won't let you go.

I think I might know what you are meaning. I'm guessing that you registered with them, maybe at my.iwon.com . I don't know how to un-register though.

I see that my.iwon.com has a green WOT rating. You might try going into your profile there, if you have one there, and set things so you will no longer get emails from them.
