Lol Mary graduation was the last day I wore that stupid hat too. I did wear whites to work a lot but I could never keep that dang hat on my head and so very happy to not ever have to put it on again, lol. We had to wear it every day in school and every time I bent over mine fell off, lol. Can you believe I had just had a baby 2 weeks before that pic was taken? I was so afraid he would come in the middle of my board exam, lol. I started having labor pains that day and nearly didn't finish it. They wouldn't let us take our class pic until the results were in. We started out with a class of 54 and only about 10 of us made it. We sure had some tough teachers, lol. Turns out three of us sisters are nurses and the one that wasn't has a daughter thats a nurse, lol. Guess that runs in the family too. I also found out today the bone and joint problems do too. One of them has had both knees replaced and other both shoulders and they both have bad backs. Find out some good things and some bad things, lol. I sure hope that chiropractor can get me straight for this trip. I want to feel good while I'm there so badly! I love New Orleans. Guess I'll have to drink plenty of hurricaines then I won't know the difference, lol. Looks like we all like to go to casinoes too. Gotta get a car fixed and sold before we go so I will have some spending money.

The chairs are entirely different story. I bought them off some antique dealers site on ebay from New York. Got all them for like $125 but it cost me a total of almost $600 by the time shipping factored in. Still a deal in "chair world". They had some hideous old gold brocade fabric on them. I refinished and recoverd them myself. They are two arm chairs too. DH was so worried that they wouldn't go with the table. "How can you know" he asked? And I told him... " I just know they'll be perfect... trust me". When they delivered them it was funny. they came at night when my husband 60's style band was practicing at night at my home. These boys have been together for over 40 years... since they were kids. Anyways, the delivery man was a Jamaican man who was not familiar with the music. So I told him to stay and have some dinner. (Had made baked ziti for the boys). "what's baked ziti" he asked. Well I sat that young man down to a big plate with home made bread.He devoured it and kept asking... "this is called baked ziti"... "seconds please"... He got up and sang some wiht the guys and was dancing. I gave a big fat tip and he left a happy kid. DH will no longer question me on my choices at all. He'll say, I never would have picked those colors/whatever... but it looks tremendous.

mimi_2006, What a beautiful table! I love the legs. If I could have found one that wasn't round, I would have gone that way, but almost everything I found in antique shops in the year or so that I was looking was the round table, usually with the claw feet, and the other thing was that the leaves were normal, versus quartersawn, oak. The antique salesman told me that was because the table was usually covered with a tablecloth when pulled out, but I can't imagine covering beautiful wood, so that was a sticking point for me. I love how your leaves pull out of the ends. I looked at several tables like that (I can't remember what that is called) and REALLY like the style. You found very nice chairs to match the table. I think they work great in your space. If I do decide to buy that rug, I'll probably use it in the attached living room instead of under the table. I just can't imagine spaghetti and such on the rug for the next few years at least. The dogs are good cleaner uppers, but still... :) flowerchild, You are right. It wasn't that long ago, mid July if I remember correctly, because we hoped to have them around the 4th and they were finished about a week after that. The waiting, in retrospect, wasn't that bad, but at the time, with the GC and DH breathing down my neck, it was pretty tense. But, definitely worth all the headaches and anxiety. We might not have the same style (although we do have the same front door) ;-) but I love seeing your posts also. Your home is beautiful and I love you master bedroom. The bed is beautiful and to have a fireplace in the room and the great "bones", to die for.
