Hit the JACKPOT!

Ok, I wasn't going to go to sales Saturday. I wanted so badly to sleep in, but I was asked to watch my youngest grandson (6) and he loves to go to sales with me, as most times the people will give him arm loads of toys "cause he's so cute"! LOL

Well, he wanted to go, so of course I gave in. There were only about 5 sales & most didn't look like they would have toys. We did find him a few & I found more sales, just following signs, and this one was a complete shock to me.

I don't even think they put an ad in, but WOW, did I hit the jackpot! My livingroom is mostly a Moroccan theme, sort of like Casablanca & this lady had a huge table full of what you see in the pics below.

I bought a few pieces & left, then I drove about 2 blocks & said to grandson "I have to go back"! This lady was DIRT CHEAP on everything, my biggest hold-back was where in the world will I store these things!!

Most pieces were $1, $2 or $3, with only the biggest one being $5, but then when she would total me, she'd knock off about $4.00.

She had even more, I bought about half of what was on the table. Once Halloween is over, I'll start to put it all out in livingroom, in bay window, on fireplace & tables. I hope I bought enough or I'll be kicking myself!!!

I asked her what theme she went with now, since she was selling all of this & she said she still has that theme, as that was only a small portion of what she had!!

I went back & this is what I got for a total of $27.00!

What an amazing haul you made! WOW, and way to go!!!
I'm so glad you went back, you'd have really kicked yourself later if you hadn't. How amazing to find things for your decor style like that. You got some beautiful pieces from her. And I also love the pumpkin topiaries.

I think your little guy deserves something extra special for getting you out of the house this morning to find these treasures! Bless his heart. And I had to laugh that folks give him toys cause he's so cute, no wonder he loves yard sales.

Wow! That is awesome:) Too bad about them going out of business, but what a great deal for you! We had that down here, a couple got divorced sold their inventory and nursery before I could even blink, I was upset when I found out they had the sale the weekend before I even knew anything, They had the biggest baskets around, I told my friend that had managed to get to the sale to not even dare utter how much they went for, lol!!

I've also been longing for a fringe tree but have never seen it for sale in my area. From what I've read about them they can be grown as either an understory tree or out in the open. My mature dogwood is in decline and needs to be cut down but my young redbud is going strong. I really like both trees. You really lucked out getting what sounds like large trees for free! I forgot to post that LOWES in Victorville california, 14333 bear valley road,92392, right off of I-15 sells pure washingtonia filifera. They have w. robusta labled mexican palm, they have the hybrid called washingtonia hybrid, and they have off to the side on sperate pallets, pots that say Washingtonia filifera - California palm. Well JT, they are surely nice looking and look as if they will taste good. I bet you have already eaten some! I planted Black Krim this year, but don't think I will plant them again. They taste really good but mine is not a great producer. I also think they have about three times the seeds but smaller. David

Wow, you really did do well, such pretty blown glass and the colors are certainly perfect for Fall right now. They stacked pumpkins are great too. Even nicer that you were able to share the day with your grandson, wonderful memories indeed.

This is my youngest grandson who is 6, he isn't the one who lives with me.

The one who lives with me used to like them too, but he's 12 now (going on 16) and he has no interest in garage sales! LOL

wow..great 'Steal' uh..buy!! lol. Very nice pieces and I love the colors..You will get to use them for all of the Fall season. It's fun taking your DGKs with you..and they know DGM will allow them to buy almost ANYTHING they want!! lol.
I must say though that you were lucky to go back and be able to still buy more...DH & I went to a Flea Market this weekend, and he saw an old camera that he fell in love with, but was unsure about buying it..he is definitely NOT like me..I see it... I like it...I BUY IT!!
Well, when he fininally decided to go back to get it...right before his eyes, there was a guy buying it!! And, to boot, the dealer automatically said 'I'll knock of $12 for it'... Well, for the rest of the day that's all DH talked about..how he missed out!! So, I'm so happy for you..you've got to go with your first instinct NOT to mention what your Wallet can Handle!! LOL

Slinkey, my hubby always tells me, "don't say woulda, shoulda, coulda"!!!

When I come home & would say to him that I wish I had bought this or that, he says that to me, so I try to think ahead now & not pass up something I'm going to regret!

I was only 2 blocks away, so I knew there would be somethings left!!

I bet your hubby will not pass up something cool again, usually by the time you think about it, it IS gone!!

Noone in my neighborhood ever sells cool stuff like that :o(

HA..yachter...I hear ya...and I agree. It happened to me once, AND...that's all I needed to NOT let it happen again...Live & Learn. So now, I think DH will hopefully learn from this. Actually when you come down to it..most men are Not good shoppers!! LOL

OOOHHH you lucky lady. I sure can see beautiful totems. I can't pass up any glass ware now without thinking how would that look on a totem!!! Beautiful stuff. Thanks for sharing and making me want to go to more sales than we do already.

Yachter, your garage saling really paid off! Those items look terrific and even more perfect if you have that "theme" going on. Maybe you will luck out again next spring if the same lady wants to get rid of more things!

Wow, I don't know where you live, but the sales where I live don't have nearly as nice stuff! Slinkey, your husband sounds like my mom (indecisive). I watched the 500 mile long garage sale on HGTV and laughed to myself; If I went with my mom, we'd be in a different state and she'd want to go back for that one thing she passed up!

Oh Neesie, that is funny about your mom! Nope, at garage sales, you have to grab it or lose it! LOL

I mostly shop in Naperville, Il., it is listed in the top five of most affluent towns in the U.S. Other than living near that for garage sales, I hate everything else about Illinois and especially the winters!!!!
