Electrolux Icon reviews for 36' gas 6 burner rangetop
Comments (13)We purchased this Electrolux Range and it arrived with the racks not properly welded and they collapsed! We have had the oven repaired >10 times in the first three years. We had a gas leak from a burned out component. Finally we tried to run the self clean and this "fried" the electronics and we could no longer open the oven door. We did not receive adequate support Electrolux ICON. We even called corporate headquarters in the USA and Sweden and the calls were NEVER returned. The exterior of this product with the stainless steel looks great., but the interior components did not hold up! This is the worst appliance we have ever purchased and it is actually dangerous....See MoreBlue Star 36'' rangetop - 6 burners or grill????
Comments (7)Stuckintheberg, having people comment on something they don't own is nothing new on the internet. It happens all the time including here :) :D. We are serious barbeque cooks. We have had indoor grills and got rid of and sadly so despite the pain it was to clean. And we have no less than three outdoor grills. One is gas. The other charcoal. And the last cerarmic cooker with computer control for 16+ hours smoking. So while I may not have any experience cooking on bluestar grill, as an engineer and serious BBQ owner/cook who has been studying intensively what to get for our next kitchen, I have something useful to say. Perhaps :). OP is free to disregard my comments at will as I was clear how I came about my finding. Note that we would want to have an indoor grill if performance was there, but it simply is not. Our ceramic smoker can barbeque even while it is snowing outside or below zero. With computer control, I can sit inside my house and watch it cook and control its temp, etc. And make healthier food (with low temps) because there is no burned bits that have the potential health problems. Here is the link to the computer program I have written to control my smoker if anyone is interested: http://tvwbb.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9270072103/m/9950027635. Yes, it is not as convenient as firing up an indoor grill. But if it is the labor of love, you work for it a bit :). Of course, I appreciate that others love the units they own. And I am sure you and cpovey get good use out of it. So the OP has both sides of the coin and can decide what to do accordingly. Comments (4)Maybe it's the way or what I cook, but I've never needed more than four burners at a time in over 40 years of cooking. I've had my 36 RNB now for about 2 1/2 years, and the built in griddle ranks right up there with the cast iron open burners as my favorite things about this range. I use the griddle daily, and often two or three times, sometimes more so than the burners. Keep in mind the Platinum griddle is not built in, but simply an accessory over two burners, which would be a deal breaker for me, so I'd go either the RNB or the Wolf as far as the griddle goes. Not familiar with Miele's griddle, or if it even is available with one? so can't comment....See MoreBest 36" under cabinet range hood for a Wolf rangetop with 6 burners
Comments (21)The OP wrote: "- We can have a 10" duct, but can not install external blower because there will be at least 3 ninety degree turns for the duct to go through the roof (kitchen is on the 2nd floor and there is another floor sitting above the kitchen)." I must have missed this thread. Just what effect is being assumed here such that the location of the blower is affected by the three 90-degree bends, so long as none are right at the blower. (Hint: Pressure loss capabilities of kitchen hood system blowers are minute factions of an atmosphere. Due to this, pressure losses on the blower intake side and pressure losses on the blower output side have the same effect, particularly when a 10-inch duct is to be used for a sub 1000 CFM requirement.) If one wants [relative] quiet in an open area. the blower should be remote from the hood and a silencer placed in the intermediate ducting. As widely noted here over the past decade or so, rated CFM and actual CFM differ by a significant factor, and one cannot address kitchen ventilation with only hood system parameters. The make-up air system parameters are equally important....See MoreMistman
