web cam problems

I don't know where to turn with this problem so here it is.

My toshiba satellite laptop webcam has a blue lite showing it to be operating but there is no picture in any program I select.

skype works showing the other person but no vid from me.

The camera software program shows no vid also.

Vista OS

I am at a total loss as to where to turn next.

I'd probaby go to Toshiba support. Find my model number and download the correct driver/software for your model laptop and the correct version of windows for the webcam.

Then if youre sure you have right driver... use your f1 button and type in device manager.... uninstall the webcam, install the new driver. Probably tell you to restart the computer. Hopefully it will fix itself when all is fresh.

Here is a link that might be useful: Toshiba support

Thank you very much! I appreciate your post. I just wish I was home to hit the record button! I knew I should have come to work late this morning! Oh well. I hope she'll be back next year and I can do even better! I'll save some $$$ up and get a wireless webcam that has night vision or whatever it is called, upgrade my computer so I don't have to wait until after dark (when I shut the camera off) to do email/web surfing, and be able to record segments. Thanks again, I really appreciate your post!

Does that mean a 'purple Y/grinning face'? Yes that should indicate "Yahoo Messenger" is running. You double click it to start it. And right click it for other options also. When you sign in user id is your Yahoo mail as in joe At yahoo.com, replace At with (@) The password for me is the same as my yahoo mail.
