How to box in chimney inside?

I'm hoping somebody here can tell me how to do this.

We have a woodburning fireplace in the basement stacked over a two-sided fireplace, with one side opening in a sunroom and the other side in the living room. Because the flue for the basement fireplace had to run beside the two-sided opening, not behind it, the two-sided opening is not symmetrical in the concrete chimney. The chimney looks thicker on one side, where the flue for downstairs is running through.

We don't mind the fact that opening is off center in the casual sunroom, where the concrete has been sided with the same exterior stone used on the house, but we want to box in and paint the chimney in the living room to make the opening centered in the box and put a more formal mantel up. What can we do to box in and cover the concrete? I presume there are fire codes involved?
