Delete Avira Quarantine items items?

Avira blocked the item. It may never have made it to Quarantine folder, that's why you never saw it.

Not sure what you deleted but if would have been a good Idea to make note of the file path of the deleted items.

not good if that means the trouble makers are returned to play, not removed from my computer.

Quarantine objects are safely tucked away where they cannot harm your computer.

I'm not a 100% familiar with the Avira program. I would have considered posting a question like that at the Avira forum.

What's the operating system? And the version of Avira you're using?

I do not like to delete, I leave in quarantine, that way should there ever be a case where it was a false positive and it was an essential part of the OS it is easy to go back and put it back where it should be. As Zep said once they are in quarantine they are safe and locked away.
I think you are correct in thinking that if you choose the option to take out of quarantine it will indeed put them back in to the pc so you do not want to do that.

However you said you showed 30 trojans in your list, I highly advise adding malwarebytes to your programs you use and update it and run full scan with it weekly.
That is a LOT of trojans and I really would be concerned depending on which ones they were. Many are not fully removed by AV programs.

The pop ups have stopped - I noted in this thread actions taken within Avira to Quarantine, this and perhaps other programs removed most problems.... Avira scan still shows one warning. Sorry to have to post this here; I am still unable to register at Landzdown. If someone could post this over there, I'd appreciate it very much. I completed the instructions, and had just copied the combofix log and was about to post it here when the screen suddenly went black and then the blue screen came on. Thanks, XP and Avira 10.0.609 12/13/2010 Last Update defs 1/17/2011, don't know why so old, I'll update when Filewalker completes.

I didn't consider going to the application specific forum, I am not an expert and I think most who go there are.

I have malwarebytes on my computers, but haven't ran lately. I'll leave in quarantine.

Trojan is the TR/Vilsel.utk Seems all are the same but are logged into the quarantine at different dates, all weeks back.

Ok glad you gave that info, it appears that avira was flagging a legit file as that specific trojan name so my guess is that you do not have an infection that it was a false positive, this is the very reason I recommend leaving things in quarantine. So just leave it as is and you should be ok, I think they have since updated avira and it no longer flags that as a trojan.

However the fact it has not been doing your daily updates worries me. Keep a watch on it, you may have something corrupt in avira and might need to unistall and reinstall it. Keep us posted please.

Thanks, I manually updated Avira (this computer hasn't been used much except for the last few days. It may have been off when the time for an update was scheduled. I should do a manual update whenever I turn the computer on.

I updated Malwarebites and ran a full scan. While that was going on Avira again took a "block" action. Here's what was reported to me (again this was while Malwarebyts was scanning - no problems were found when scan completed).

Guard: Autorun blocked
D:\Autorun.inf

I may have been using Firefox browsing at the same time.
