Toilet That Can Stand Up to Being in Bath Next to Garage
Comments (8)My garage is on the lee side of my house but the wind does come around and swirl right in front of it so I can understand getting all that dust and grit in there. No matter how often we clean it there is always grime that walks into the house with us. I second the wall mount toilet. I never thought of them when I was replacing my toilets within the past two years but if ever again, that is the route I would take under any circumstances. The idea of just mopping underneath rather than the contortions needed to get around and behind floor mounted toilets sounds wonderful. I love my Toto's but I too am unimpressed with the sani-gloss. I think it might work well if the toilet got constant use but with only 2 of us in the house the surface dries out between flushes....See MoreTub next to toilet?
Comments (24)You can get integrated 2-sided tubs or deck mount. I would absolutely NOT do freestanding in such a case. It's just not possible for any kind of cleaning. Drop in tub plus wall flange works fine for this installation though if you can't find 2 wall. My plan allows for a deck mounted filler in a pony wall type scenario at the end of the bathtub, but there are other possibilities. Those measurements are to studs, not to the opposite drywall, aren't they? 91 and x/4 (can't read x) minus 2 sheets of drywall gets to 90 and x/4. Unless she is measuring really weird!!!! You can mount a deck faucet on the tub itself if you get the right tub. It works just fine. You can also mount it on the end of the tub or get one that is wall-mounted. You can have a wall tub spout just fine with a 2-wall tub....See MoreSmall master bath Reno with toilet move and expansion into next room?
Comments (6)20K barely covers a like for like renovation of a small 3 piece hall bath. Bigger is more. Moving plumbing is a lot more. More plumbing fixtures is more. Loss of value for creating a tiny bedroom also comes into it. You’d do better to think about an addition rather than a subtraction of space. You get more added value based on adding square footage. 2020 numbers are out of date for the rapidly rising costs of building materials. 2021 numbers are likely to see a big jump. https://www.remodeling.hw.net/cost-vs-value/bathroom-addition?y=2020...See MoreTight tub/shower space next to toilet - alternative to kneewalls?
Comments (2)Why do you think a great walk in shower would lower resale value? There are probably as many people who would actively seek out a great shower because they don't take baths as would not purchase a home. Yes there are people who take baths but there is a significant number of people who don't take baths and find it ridiculous to either have mediocre tub/shower or squeeze in a small stall shower because there is a tub they never use. I remodeled and got rid of the tub/shower and now have two showers. If I were buying a home I would have no interest in a home where the master had a tub and a medicore shower. As you wrote, there is a pretty short period of time when children take baths so there would be a lot of homeowners who are past having children at the toddler stage buying homes....See MoreRelated Professionals
