I have a KA sxs with an ice maker that's nearly 6 years old and doing fine - ice maker's still working well - KA fridges seem to be more reliable than some other brands and have better warranties (at least they used to). My old Whirlpool is still going strong in the garage (nearly 27 years old) - we disconnected the icemaker when we moved it to the garage 6 years ago. Personally, I wouldn't buy a used appliance unless you get a very good deal - you're just buying someone else's problems.

Thanks everyone definitely some food for thought. I will say that our handle on our FD freezer is loose b/c of how full it gets and how much we use it. Our fridge part has never been close to overflowing. I do love the french door fridge part. It's the freezer part driving me crazy. I went to look at them today, big mistake of taking my 2.5 year old. She loved how her sneakers made a noise and echoed when she ran around, which led her to becoming a maniac and sprinting around the large warehouse and screaming every time I picked her up b/c she wanted to make the noise. So embarrassing, she is usually fairly well behaved. So we had to cut the trip short as I carried my screaming child out, again so embarrassing. They did have the DCS range and refrigerator out. I ordered the DCS a while back when they had a great deal going so it was nice to see in person. The stainless is definitely a bit different so it probably makes sense to order the fridge in the same stainless (nothing like ordering appliances based on appearance). The have a sxs in our budget, the FD exceeds it. It is one of the few SxS that does not have water/ice in the door (what I prefer). Pretty sure we are going to do that. It was so nice to hear how many people hated the sxs because a lot of the reasons will not pertain to us or can be solved thought still will miss the FD fridge. My kid is still young so we don't really eat that much frozen pizza, when she gets bigger she can make a trip to the basement to pull it out of the freezer, LOL. As for tray storage/sheet cakes we will just have go into the basement and use the fridge down there. It seems like there is no perfect solution (other than a 48" one haha). If we hate it, it easy enough to switch out in a few years....

Any door that opens to the right will hit the side wall, which includes French door and SxS units. That may cause some obstruction on fully opening crisper or meat/deli drawers, depending on the design of individual models. It probably will prevent removal of the drawers (for cleaning or service) since the door(s) typically must be open to nearly 180° to facilitate removal for the drawer(s) to clear the edge of the door and/or protruding door shelves ... unless the refrigerator is pulled forward when needed so the right-side door can swing into the dining room doorway. My SxS is next to a pantry door that is set at an angle. The left-side freezer door hits the pantry door knob. The freezer baskets are just barely obstructed from pulling fully out, they run into the freezer door gasket, although it's not enough to impair functionality and the clearance is such that I can slightly pull the baskets to the right to clear the gasket if necessary. Opening the pantry door allows the freezer door to swing open enough to fully clear the gasket. Pics below. You will have more obstruction for the door swing on the right since your wall is at a 90° angle. My sister ran into the same situation at the existing house they recently bought. A Kenmore (Samsung- or LG-sourced) French door refrigerator came with the house and has a full-width crisper drawer and separate deli/meat drawer. The unit has to be pulled forward from normal position for the left-side door to open enough to remove the drawers for cleaning or service.

Eighth character in WP model numbers has long been code for the model-year (market introduction) ... but I is not a valid code, so they may have changed the syntax (which they do occasionally when too many cyclic repetitions occur, or maybe just for refrigeration products) for the ninth character. H fits for 2018, WRSA88FIHZ and WRS588FIHZ are the same in that respect. The next character after the market year is color/finish ... which you'll notice it changes on WP's web site when different color choices are selected. The next one or two characters (always numbers) after the color is engineering revision, which is noted on the tag ON the appliance but not in sales literature or web site references. Sometimes a model is produced for several years after introduction, which may be evidenced by a high-count engineering revision. My parents have a wall oven tagged as a 1995 model-year (or 2014 but they've had it much longer than that). The engineering revision is 15 and the serial indicates production in 2005. Revisions typically range from 0 to 3 so 15 for a very long-time production fits with 1995 model-year and 2005 production-year.
