Please help! Which french-door refrigerator LG or KitchenAid
Comments (16)We have the first generation of LG French door, purchased about 4 or 5 years ago for our renovation. At the time, it was the most highly recommended fridge both in here and in other media. Big mistake...we never had any problems with the lights burning, but the cheap plastic interior crisper bins and shelves kept breaking. Now the freezer door will not stay closed. We are getting rid of it and replacing it with the Samsung CD FD. We just purchased it today at Lowe's for $2069...it's about $3300 at Sears. Lowe's is having a big sale, plus some rebates and WA State energy rebates brought it down to the price we got. It's frustrating...originally I wanted the SZ 650, but didn't want to spend 5-6K. Now between the LG and the new Samsung, I could have purchased the SZ. And I hate the idea of getting rid of a fridge only 5 years old...talk about a waste of resources. By the way, customer service at LG was horrible every time I called. Never again....See MoreLG Super Capacity, French Door Refrigerator
Comments (4)I looked at it last summer when it first came out. I like the interior room (20 cu/ft fridge, 10 freezer), but the exterior size of the unit is just too big for our kitchen. It is a standard height of like 68-69" tall, but it is very deep, and would stick out and take up too much room. I have a counter-depth side-by-side right now, but would look at replacing it with a counter-depth french door in the next year or so. That was it would only be like 26" total depth....See MoreFinal Round: French Door KitchenAid vs GE Profile!
Comments (8)We have the GE Profile FD and love it. It was our third new fridge in 6 weeks, as we went through two Bosch SxS models, neither of which would cool. The GE's been great...no issues at all, and because of the previous problems, I keep a fridge thermometer in it all the time...it holds its temp perfectly. We've had it for two months (admittedly, not long) and I'd give it 4.5 stars. DH insisted we had to have water in the door, so that ruled out lots of FD models. My only (small) complaint is the water well that catches drips in the door is quite small, and it sometimes overruns onto the floor when it's full and we swing the door open. But that's a small problem and infrequent. Would definitely buy it again......See MoreLG vs. Samsung French Door Fridge
Comments (17)Jeri - We just purchased the 950TT this morning from HD. It's last year's model and is now down to $1849 @ HD and $1844 @ Lowes. The 960 is this years model. It's the one with the Tilt Freezer Door. There are some other sutble differences as well and some not so sutble. Other ways to visually tell the two apart is by the display. The 950 has individual buttons while the 960 allows selections with contacts hidden under a membrane,... or is it membrain. Can't remember!! The 950 is accented with light gray plastic and the 960 sports black plastic. The 950 is Titanium while the 960 is Stainless,... TT vs ST. And the 960's internal shelfing and compartments looks a lot more modern. I was lucky (as far as price is concerned),... I got mine (new in box from warehouse) from HD for $1475.99 after a Lowes price match + 10% and some other discounting. $1604.80 after taxes and delivery charges. Not bad! Does anyone know of any performance or quality difference between the two? Stuff deeper than the eye can see?...See Moresnickers1388
