Drawer pull instead of hand towel ring

rmiriam just posted this idea in the thread on hand towels. I never would have thought of this, but it's brilliant. I just looked on the RH site, and they have drawer pulls in many styles, including some that match their bath hardware, and in different sizes up to 8" wide.

Has anyone else done this? Photos?

I did this in the guest/kids bath when we remodeled a couple years ago. I have a double sink vanity in there and the drawer pulls are the traditional bar pulls. I have two 9" pull outs( similar to a bottle/spice pull out in a kitchen) that I keep shampoos lotions etc. in. Mounted at the top I put 8 3/4" bar pulls at the top. The spread between screw holes is about 6 1/2". It is perfect to put a handtowel on and works great right next to the sink. The great thing is that since it is a pull out-the towel doesn't interfere with any other drawers underneath opening and getting shut. I hope that makes sense. I would post pics, but not sure how.

These are both Ginger Sheffield Toilet Tissue holders. I'm using the first one for the vanity. I think either of these, or any other open ended tissue holder would work very well for you. I liked the idea of it being open ended and just didn't want a standard towel ring. Something to watch out for, though. I found that some of the towel bars, tissue holders, etc stick out very far from the wall. I wanted to avoid something sticking out too far, so I made sure to check out all the measurments before deciding. The room's not done, but I really like the towel holder.

My tiny bathroom has 4 (FOUR!) towel bars, the ones with the ceramic type ends. I can't wait to take all 4 of them down and just add a couple of hooks, since those don't take up as much space. I'm just not sure how to do it without breaking the tile they're attached to. My bathroom also has one of those ceramic closed tp holders which is so smartly located almost behind the toilet. Can't wait to take that off the wall too, but I got one of these (see link) for in front of it. The only thing I don't like about this tp holder is that, unlike the closed kind, the paper will rollllllllllll off pretty fast, so we are probably going through paper faster than we used to. 3' or 4' pull for 18' drawer? And 1 or 2 pulls for 26.5' drawer?

We have 2 pulls on the cabs that are 30 or wider and 1 pull on everything else. I find that with the smooth operation of our cabs that having 2 pulls is nice. I can reach a pull from either side of the drawer and never use 2 pulls at the same time. It helps if you have a few people in the kitchen at the same time, esp for the 36" wide drawers. I also like the double pull look better on the wide and deep drawers. Most don't do a 4 stack of drawers that wide, so I am not sure how a single pull would work in that instance. These are 30" wide drawers with 2 pulls. I can't picture them with only 1. Notice that neither pull is very far from the center:

I mixed it up for different reasons. Master bath: hooks near shower & tub for bath towels, rings for hand towels @ sink. I'm really, really, really loving the hooks for the bath towels. I used double hooks, and I like that I can drape a towel over both "prongs" to help open it up for drying. Don't actually take the hand towels off the ring unless I'm swapping them for clean ones, so the rings are fine. Guest bath: towel bar at sit-in shower for bath towels, smaller towel bar at sink for hand towels. This was more of a space issue. It was a very typical "galley" type bathroom layout. I went with double towel rods so that each guest (generally my parents) could have two towels without taking up the entire wall. Hooks would have worked, too, but I wanted to be able to fold them over something and free up some wall space. The shorter towel bar at the vanity allowed space for two guest hand towels to reside on one wall, without taking up counter space. Half bath: Open ring for hand towel (because it was the best looking option that came in my faucet's line, and I wanted them to match). :) Hollywood bath (DD's): No towel bar, rings for hand towels. Her shower area is small and the only wall that would fit a towel bar is the wall the door opens up against. I didn't want to have to choose between open door or dry towels. So I bought an over the door hook, and really cute coordinating towels.

Lovely bathroom. I've been considering stainless bowls in the bathroom (they have them here in my office and I really like the look).

May I ask what your counter top is?

Cool bathroom! I like what you did. Can you tell me what the vertical pulls are for? It seems the towels hang on the 9" pullouts for the shampoos (yes?) but I can't tell if there are also really narrow pullouts for something else.

Thank you-I love the way it turned out. The countertop is corian-glacier white. And I love the stainless bowls as far as looks, but harder to keep clean in a kids bath than I thought with water spots etc. The 9" are on the pull outs and I love having these in the bathroom. They are great for lotions etc and cleaning supplies, toilet paper rolls, books next to the toilet(if you need reading materials-haha) The verticle pulls are actually on the cabinet doors that are just the sink bases. Not much space for anything underneath.

Lovely bath ging9 -- And I'm glad you chimed in about the harder to clean aspect. That was just what I was going to say. We have SS sinks in our boys' bath, and toothpaste/hard water spots appear the instant the housekeeper leaves...

OK - duh - I see it now! Thanks for clarifying. My kitchen sink is stainless and a breeze to keep clean - wonder what the differeence is?

I was actually thinking of mounting the drawer pulls on the wall, instead of towel rings. I will not have any drawers, only a pedestal sink. In the other thread, someone brought up the question of how to attach them.
