Southern Living Shook Hill Plan?

Anyone built this? Do you have pictures or revision ideas?

Sorry, can't help with the plan. But I grew up hanging out with a buddy who lived there (about 5 min up the road from So Living's offices).

Having lived in Shook Hill territory for over 20yrs, I had to look up the plan. It made me LOL. It's a nice plan, but nothing like the houses in the actual Shook Hill area.

The only thing I would suggest is making the two french doors in the DR windows since doors are potential leak sources and/or access points.

We are building Walker's Bluff. Purchased our plans directly from Gary/Ragsdale. They were extremely nice and even after the plans were purchased I have called and asked questions and they have been more than helpful. We did modify the plan--this firm is in Texas and all plans are drawn on a slab foundation. We needed a crawlspace and wanted to make a few other changes. We took our plan to a local architect and he made changes. CAD file was included in the purchase price of the original plan. We are very excited about the process and so far things are going very smoothly. We are in the trim stage

@mfowler- THANK YOU!! This is so incredibly helpful. Hubby and I are actually discussing using the Stone Creek plan, but modifying it to look like Shook Hill on the outside; it's fun to see that someone else had the same (partially, anyway) idea! I'm also glad to see the size of Stone's family room- much better sized than Shook's. And I def prefer Shook's kitchen over Stone's. I think Mitch Ginn needs to read this thread and come up with a hybrid plan! Maybe call it Stone Hill? Shook Creek? :) Hubby and I REALLY appreciate your pictures and the time you took to post them!

Need help for my living room plan

Thanks, Michelle! That back entry is a 5x16ish' mudroom. I plan to have coat hooks, a bench, cubbies, etc. in that area, so I was actually hoping I'd have a lot of storage. I'm thinking of eliminating the door from the mud area to the south to maximize wall storage area (and I have an exterior door in the laundry heading north to my laundry line and outside shower, so there is an exit already). But if you have specific thoughts on storage in that area, I'd welcome your input. That's the area I plan to focus on after the living room. And by midwest, I mean southern Missouri. Does that count as midwest? I'm originally from Texas, so this feels north to me, but people here identify as southern. So, while we have real winters, especially compared to where I'm from, we don't have to wear full snow gear often. Here's what's driven the living room design so far: - my architects love the idea of a wall of windows to the east for light and views - I wanted a big window on the south wall to allow in southern light and heat during fall/winter/spring - I don't care if we have a fireplace, but it makes the exterior look nicer to have it. - The "study" nook resulted from eliminating a room that would've been a small study. The architects eliminated the room in order to move the half bath from above the kitchen to where it is now, and the leftover space is the nook. I don't think it'll be awkward. I like the idea of nooks after reading Sarah Susanka's books.

We are in the process of building the Shook Hill plan now. Sheet rock starts Monday. We changed front french doors to double sash with transoms similar to the rear, eliminated the fake chimney on front, went without basement and put pantry under steps to make the laundry room larger. Space under steps is about the same as layed out in laundry room, we made an angle wall in shower to allow the sprays to point toward middle of shower, increased garage to 25' deep so my truck fits, installed trusses over garage to allow a bonus room (future steps in 3rd bay wrapping rear corner). email me at b.t.email@att.net and I'll send you a photo or answer more questions. We really like the plan and are pleased with the size of rooms.

We are in the planning stages right now. We want to move the stairs into the foyer, but not sure this is going to work out. We walked through one being built in Newnan Georgia, Redwine Plantation, there is about 100 sq ft upstairs behind the jack and Jill bath that is wasted space. We plan to add a laundry room upstairs, this way the kids can do their own laundry without carrying up and down. We will also add a walk in pantry downstairs, probably by extending the area between the kitchen and garage. We will add a door off of the side of the front porch, and turn the laundry into the 1/2 bath, and move laundry to the back of the house off of the kitchen.

I have quite a few pictures of the home being built in Newnan Georgia.

My DH and I are building in the middle of our land overlooking a 15 acre pasture and I love the look of this home. Would any of you that have pics be willing to share? I need to make a decision soon (my DH patience is running thin) lol. I am especially having a hard time visualizing the interior. Please help. Thanks!
