Help needed for Bathroom/Closet layout

We are trying to finalize our floor plan so we can start to build our forever home. We live on a 40 acre farm with southern exposure. The bathroom is in the Northeast corner.

I've spent so much time on the kitchen layout that I have neglected our bathroom. I think the bathroom is in need of help because the toilet is so far away from the vanity.

It might be helpful to mention that this is the master bathroom but we need to have access for visitors because itÃ¢ÂÂs the only bathroom on the main floor. We thought about adding a small bathroom but weÃ¢ÂÂre trying to maintain a small footprint. WeÃ¢ÂÂll have another full bathroom in the walkout basement and we also have a full bathroom in the shed for use when weÃ¢ÂÂre outside. IÃ¢ÂÂm fine if the closet needs to be changed up as well.

One final thing to mention is that my husband wakes up at 4am for work, so I thought the closet in between the bedroom and bathroom would allow me to sleep in.

IÃ¢ÂÂm hoping you have some suggestions for our bathroom/closet layout!

I too like the idea of keeping light from the bathroom out of the bedroom. I think your plan looks okay ( I am no expert!)
I think you could add that small powder room and keep the small footprint. When you share a master bathroom with company, your bathroom and closet are on display. Also, with two doors into the bathroom, people are always locking and unlocking two doors to use the bathroom and children don;t always remember to open both doors.
By taking a small space from your master closet, you could add a small powder room off the hall way. Someone else may have other ideas as to whether this will work. Pocket doors would help.

Thanks for the suggestion. That layout would work out nice and still have room for a decent size closet.

I do not take baths more than once a year so I asked a realtor if a shower only master was an ok situation in my area and she said yes if I had a larger walkin shower and another tub elsewhere in the house. So I added a large jetted walk in shower only in my addition. If you love baths than I would do a small walk in shower and separate tub not a combo. Most adults do not want to climb in and out of a tub/shower combo now a days. You could also decide is closet space more important than a five piece or maybe do a single sink to gain square ft space for both a tub and shower. i would think if you change the closet to 11x8.5 and the bath to 11x13 you can get everything you want....

Bathroom and closet remodel - design help needed

Hi, we are remodeling our master bathroom / walk in closet and are looking for ideas and opinions. I have attached the layout of the bathroom as well as a blank one. The curved shower wall is glass block and does protrude into the bedroom. We are thinking of a glass shower and stand alone tub. The closet has the standard pole and shelf design. It does not work terribly well. We are thinking of a wooden shelf/drawer design. We would also like to add a double sided, sealed, gas fireplace between the bath and bed rooms. If we can't make it work we will do a single sided in the bedroom. We can move the doorways but would like to keep the walls in the same locations. We would love to hear your ideas.

Jslzart, I see what you mean, but as we are in the middle of nowhere, we’ve got slim pickings on who to hire. Plus, all of the GCs I used to know (my FIL included) have moved or passed away in the last 20 years, so I feel like I’ve got to go into this with some of my own knowledge, ideas, and creativity or I’m just going to get the same starter-home set-up as the next guy.

@anj_p this is a remodel and im trying not to go too crazy otherwise i love your idea of flipping the master/kids wings! good point on toilet - existing walls are all plaster and incredibly soundproof but this new one wont be so going to make sure to raise that question! im torn on reach in closet - its what they have now, but it feels like being able to shut a door would be nice? were also used to using dressers so maybe a nice furniture piece could be a ckmpromise? going to think about that! totally agree on master bath and Im frustrated our architect hasnt suggested it. the window makes a large shower there awkward but we dont hse a tub! thanks for taking the time tk look and give advice!
