Top mount vs under mount sink?
Comments (9)I have a stainless drop in. I don't understand all the talk of crud catching in the lip, I don't find that to be the case. Regular cleaning around the sink area every day makes that a non issue for me.Having never had an undermount sink I can't say, but it would seem to me that more crud would catch in that area than in a top mount. I've never dented a stainless sink, I would guess you'd have to drop something pretty heavy in it to dent it. I guess it depends on how thick your steel is? But I do hate the water spotting on the stainless. Everything has its trade offs I guess. For the most part I find the drop in stainless pretty tough and easy to care for....See MoreHelp! What spout length should I get for wall mount faucet?
Comments (6)I presume this is a bathroom sink? There are no rules other than that the spout should be somewhere over the sink ;-). There is no necessity for it be centered, and I prefer it to sit back a ways so I have room to get my head under the faucet if I want to shampoo my hair in the sink. If you have a very forceful stream of water, however, having it strike a sloping surface very close to the edge can cause a little bit of spray outside the sink. I have this issue with a free-standing tub and a wall-mount spout that could be an inch of two longer... but I also have a very large-volume stream coming out of that tub filler....See MoreDrop-in, ver mount or under mount bathtub
Comments (3)I like drop-in with a deck surround. That way you have a place to put things. DS has under-mount with deck surround. It's uncomfortable to lean your head back in that scenario because the deck (marble, granite, etc.) is poking you in the neck or head. With drop-in, your head will rest on the contour of the tub you choose. Also, depending on the size of your decking, you can lay a stack or towels there, sit down to put on shoes, etc. My friend has all kinds of pretty jars of bath salts, etc on hers. Mine's not so big, but I do put a pretty soap dish there, a small picture, candles, etc....See MoreUnder mount sink with seam or drop in without seam
Comments (6)Put on the brakes with this fabricator and please find another one. The sink being undermount or top-mount has nothing to do with where the seam is placed. The only reason to opt for a top-mount sink is if your counter material is laminate, which typically requires a top-mount sink. If you are getting granite counters, you should be able to have an undermount sink, and the seam placement should not be a factor for whether the sink is undermounted or not. As mentioned above, the picture you show is a flush-mount sink. A top-mount sink will not be "what the edge of the sink looks like" in your OP photo. I hope you will be present at the template layout of your granite slab at the fabricator. You must insist on this....See Morejess1979
