Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman is one of my favorite sources (my husband and I both owned copies when we met) but my favorite poems of all come from 'cyrano de begerac' by Edmond Rostand. for short quips, I tend towards using song lyrics rather than poems, one of the nicest manuscripts I ever did revolved around the lyrics to 'chinacat sunflower' by Jerry Garcia- they don't make much sense, but they were fun to arrange artistically. the Song of Solomon is also a great source for beautiful poetry (Matthew's not bad, either- and I think his viewpoint needs more attention than he gets) but the Koran also has some lovely passages. my latest was taken from a quote that Mercedes Lackey borrowed from someone else- that ends with the line 'you are responsible FOREVER for what you have tamed' I'm donating it to an art auction for the local SPCA in october.

This is an angel feather, sent from God above, to serve as a reminder, of his gracious love. It's from your guardian angel, that God himself assigned to you, And fell out in his struggles, as he protected you. Each time you almost stumble, Each time you nearly fall, Remember to, Thank God and his angels, for answering your call.

luvstocraft -- thank you for the advise on this. We usually don't go to Michigan for the holidays until next week. Our other grandaughter needs some help watching her 3 children. So we have to leave sometime around 5 A.M. tomorrow. When we're gone we don't have access to a computer so I won't be able to search anymore. I make these Christmas cans for 13 kids in the family. I haven't even got all them done. I'll have to take all supplies with me. And I still have to do the Memory Feather Angel baulbs. And oh my word, we're headed right into a snow storm. Well this will be the last of my posts until Jan. I want to wish all of you a heartfelt blessed holiday season. I will miss all of your posts and all of you. This is a wonderful board to belong to. linda
