porous brick and water infiltration

dogbone

I have a large brick wall on my house that faces south. We live on a hill and frequently have rain storms with high wind. 20-30 mph is not uncommon so the wall gets blasted with a good bit of water, most storms seem to come from the south. The wall is about 30 ft. tall. In the basement I get some water around the basement door. The only way I can see this occurring is with water being pushed through the porous brick. There aren't any cracks or faulty mortar, the house is only a couple of years old. There is only one opening in the wall, a small window on the second floor, and it's caulked and sealed well.

I'm considering spraying a transparent sealer of some sort on this side of the house. Does anyone have experience with this?
