I located ours on a 45 degree angle because I did not have enough counter depth to mount it directly behind. Whatever you do make sure that you check the clearance necessary for the faucet installation against any internal framing of the vanity.

That would be great! I just read a post from you in another tread. I'm looking forward to seeing it installed! So we set the templates yesterday using the Taj Mahal on the island and the sueded Black Pearl on the perimeter. Some of the left over Taj Mahal would be used as a new fireplace surround. Then I got home and looked around my kitchen. I just could not see the black pearl on the perimeter. I could only see the Taj Mahal on both surfaces. I approached my husband when he got home, and shockingly!,he agreed wholeheartedly. He feels there is no way we can go wrong putting the beautiful Taj Mahal on both surfaces, but that we might regret using the black pearl over time. We decided to sleep on it and revisit it this morning. I felt the same as yesterday. My husband said he didn't even need to look at the kitchen that his mind was made up that the Taj Mahal is the way to go. I called my fabricator this am to schedule another appt to template out the counter Monday morning. She knew we were not completely set on the black. Now I am the owner of one slab of black pearl. We are wondering if its big enough to replace the current counters in our lake house. Of course this was not a project we ever considered until now. The black pearl would look fabulous at the lake. I need to change my faucet as well. I went with a more traditional design to soften the perimeter. Now I can go a little more modern/industrial. I'm excited for that! Hi guandries. I just had my kitchen templated a week ago. I don't have a stove but I do have a cooktop destined for the island with a ventilation system that has a "collar" that sits on top the granite at the cutout. When it came to the sinks and the cooktop all the fabricators needed to do was take the items out of their boxes and do some measurements of the cooktop/vent system and then they took the sinks with them, but they did not attempt to place them in the cabinetry in the kitchen. I already had my dishwasher in place since we are not replacing that item but I don't think it would have made a difference as long as they got the full length and width measurement of the countertops. They did mark on the templates where certain appliances would be located. I would think in the case of your stove they will want to take measurements and especially examine the top that goes over the cutout, but not sure you really need to push it into the space. The fabricators will probably do that for you if they need to see it in its correct spot though.

"I am trying to figure out if fabricators need to allow extra for each piece for fitting, etc." That's the purpose of the template. An exact size facsimile of the desired countertop is created with luan strips, plastic strips, or a computer GPS. Now, the decorative edging chosen will impact whether a 60x 24" section of cabinet top with 3 exposed sides will need to be cut to 63", or 64" in length, or 25.5" or 26" in width. All of those variables are chosen and signed off during the template so that when the fabricator goes back to the shop, he has everything he needs and not have to do anything but cut something that fits.
