My experience is that the hand drawings make more of an impression; but there is a tremendous value to CAD when you can download the actual property lines and work with it to make a plan. I think Woody makes a great point, the program I have used for CAD increases the work for me and reduces the focus on the design. I find it limiting also. If it were a matter of equal effort for me, I am not sure which I would use, but I find it much much easier to do hand drawings. I understand that someone else might struggle with the hand drawings and prefer to use CAD. One time I toured a potential client around an existing clients gardens. The existing client said to the potential client that one of the things she liked the most about working with me was the artistic plans I presented her with. She saved them all. I don't mean to toot my own horn - but I found it interesting that the plans were one of her favorite things. She was a client for whom I had done extensive work and I was surprised to hear her talk about the plans as opposed to any other part of the experience of working with me. Dont get me started on photoshop - i think everyone knows where i stand :)

And the Lariat "loops" can break (just like Candlewick!) but I've been fortunate enough to only break 1 off in all these yrs! (Knock on wood!) Thanks, everyone, for all your comments..'ppreciate it! My DH is retired & tackles about anything in woodworking...we like to recycle & use alot of barnwood...I will pass on your sweet comments about the cabinet to him! I had seen a pic of a door cabinet some yrs ago & it looked perfect for this project! luvs...the farmhouse was deteroriating so bad ...very old & yes, had some great pcs in it. My sis & BIL had raised their family in it...they are dairy farmers. The Amish came in & took out the cupboards & lots of usable wood ...my sis & BIL was happy about that because all would be bulldozed...I had asked for the door & the old bath window (my Christmas window post) & they let us take anything we wanted. This is definitely an eating-the-elephant-one-bite-at-a-time situation with the paperwork. I've found it helps to just grab one file and go to another room- then you are only dealing with that one stack of papers and not looking at all the rest. I bet when you get started, you will find that you know pretty quickly what things to toss and what things to keep. Another tactic I've heard is to imagine what it will look like when it is all done. That's suppose to motivate you to get it done :^) More and more I have applied that Marie Kondo theory about keeping like things together. It does help especially with craft supplies. Just grouping stuff that goes together all together has eliminated a lot of unneeded duplicates. I've also found that sometimes when I get all the supplies for a particular craft together, it was very uninspiring and the whole lot goes to donation. The one craft I still enjoy above all others is sewing and in particular, sewing scrap style quilts. That means I have a lot of smaller pieces of fabric to get organized. Right now they are grouped with like fabrics, folded and put in gallon ziploc bags. Then those bags are all in a large, opaque rubbermaid tub. I've been going back and forth lately with the idea of moving them all to clear under bed style boxes (that will still fit in the closet) which would give better organization and easier access to them. Still don't know if I will eventually do that, but I wouldn't do that with all my craft supplies, only the ones that most interest me. Once you identify that, then they aren't clutter, they are something to organize. I also keep a couple of drawers of rather disorganized craft supplies- these I have little interest in and am keeping them for DD in case she has some interest in crafting with them. When she has outgrown them, out they will go, but until then they aren't worth the time to organize, only to hide away. You can do it. It might not happen overnight, but it can happen!
